Hard lump after epi-gastric hernia repair. Any suggestions?

I have a hard lump 3 weeks after my epi-gastric hernia repair. The location of the lump is right where my hernia used to be and i'm guessing around 2cm wide and very firm when pressed and slightly sore. The incision was made just below the hernia so I do not think it is part of the scarring from the incision. I can't quite figure out what this may be due to the "hardness" of the lump, it is also slightly larger than what my hernia was (which was very small). Please advise?

Almost certainly represents swelling and inflammation. Possibly even a hematoma (blood collection) but even that would improve with time. Given time and massage if you choose, this will almost certainly soften and smooth to an acceptable appearance.

I would not be to concerned at this point of time.  Part of the healing process involves a lot of extra collagen in the initial weeks after surgery.  It often takes several months for this extra collagen to disappear and for the :fullness" and "hardness" to disappear.  I advise patience for now!
