It is possibly to get a tummy tuck if you are a plus size lady. Your expectations must be realistic. In larger size patients it is difficult to get a flatter abdomen because of the intra-abdominal fat.
You have to acknowledge that SAFETY is priority because your life should not be put at risk because of a Plastic Surgery. So your BMI must be at least on 29 in order to have a safe procedure and prevent deadly complications as are: Deep Vein Thrombosis, Pulmonary embolism, bleeding, skin necrosis, infections, etc. Just think that nobody (including Us as professionals) wants complications, nor minor, nor mild either severe ones. So your health condition should be perfect by the time of your procedure and you will be loving your result.Be encouraged.Dr/ Cardenas
A flat abdomen is probably unrealistic if you are a plus size woman because two factors contribute to your belly curve. One factor is excess fat outside of the abdominal muscles that can be removed through a tummy tuck. The other factor is internal or visceral fat that pushes the muscle wall outward from within. This fat cannot be removed through a tummy tuck but only through weight loss. Therefore, a tummy tuck will improve the curve of your abdomen but not make it flat
Hi Bellarina, A tummy tuck is a great procedure that can significantly improve a persons figure. It is important to have a consultation to determine if this is the right procedure for you and if not , why. All body contouring procedures will have better results if the person is near or at their optimal weight however a person does not need to be thin to have a tummy tuck. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Yes you can have this procedure done. However, it's hard to offer any suggestion without a picture therefore I would highly recommend an in office consultation to explore your options and achieve the body you'd like.
Hello dear, thanks for your question and pictures, I suggest you to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to check your BMI first, because surgery will depend on that... I've performed surgery on patients with no more than 200 pounds, but you have to be checked
It is possible to get a tummy tuck for a plus size woman, but there are limitations. Most notably, since the procedure doesn't remove any of the deep fat inside the abdomen, your belly may not be flat as a result of the procedure. Think of the tummy tuck as a procedure that makes a tighter envelope on your abdomen, but that cannot flatten its shape significantly. Weight loss before a tummy tuck is the correct strategy if a flat tummy is your goal.
Thank you for the question. Definitive advice would require in person evaluation but, generally speaking, it is possible for "plus size woman" to undergo tummy tuck surgery. Also, generally speaking, it is always best to achieve long-term stable weight prior to proceeding with body contouring surgery. Doing so, will increase the safety of the operation, will likely improve the outcome of the operation, and will decrease chances that additional surgery will become necessary subsequently. In my practice, I do not ask specific patients to achieve a specific weight prior to proceeding with tummy tuck surgery. I simply ask patients to achieve a long-term stable weight where he/she feels comfortable and does not expect significant fluctuation postoperatively. When the time is right, seeking consultation with well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons will be your next/best step. Best wishes.
It is not uncommon to have some minor issues with belly button healing after your surgery. Often the epidermal layer sheds and the raw dermal layer (Like you see with a blister shedding its top layer) weeps underneath. I don't like peroxide beyond the first 24-48 hours as it prevents...
If you were provided a post-procedure #garment, be sure you are wearing it until prescribed otherwise by your doctor. The purpose of the post-procedure #garment is to provide some gentle #support and to reduce swelling. If it feels too tight or causes pain, take it off. Many patients wear the...
Dear mb7011, numbness of the arms after surgery is not infrequent. It happens mostly in long cases or in cases where the positioning of the patient requires changes or forced positions. In these situations the arms maybe subjected to abnormal pressure or stretching causing nerve...
