Voluma vs. Volbella for cosmetic cheekbone enhancement?

Voluma and Volbella are 2 new Vycross fillers from Allergan.  Volbella is much finer and intended for the perioral area where filler is injected more superficially.  Voluma is intended to be injected deeper and is FDA approved for 2 years duration.  For cheeks I would recommend Voluma.

 Volbella is the latest FDA-approved hyaluronic-acid based filler from
Juvederm. It utilizes the same Vycross technology that is in Voluma
to create a longer-lasting effect. However, Volbella has a thinner
consistency, which means it's a terrific filler for the lips and
perioral lines, but will not do much for lifting or creating full
cheeks. Voluma is thicker and is meant to create volume in the
midface and/or build up the cheekbone area. It also stimulates
collagen production and has a very natural, rejuvenating look. There
are other fillers for this purpose as well, including Radiesse,
Restylane Lyft and Sculptra. We often layer these for optimal results
or more dramatic results. Please feel free to discuss your needs
with your practitioner and ask if there is anything new you may wish
to try. If you feel you are not communicating well, it may be time to
find a new board-certified dermatologist who's more attuned to your
desires and needs.  

Voluma
is designed to enhance the cheekbones. Volbella is designed to address the fine
lines around the mouth and tear troughs. I don't think you will see much
difference in your cheeks if you are injected with Volbella.

Thanks for this question. Voluma is used in the cheeks and mid face. It's a thick product that adds volume. Volbella is a thin HA product and not designed to add volume. It can be used for lip enhancement.

Volbella is a thinner product used more superficially in the mouth area. It will reduce fine lines, and improve the texture of your lips, without making them to large. Both are phenomenal products. Great question! Voluma and Volbella are both hyaluronic acid fillers made by the same company, Allergan. Voluma is specifically designed to restore age-related volume loss in the cheek and midface area. Expected results with Voluma last up to 2 years. Volbella is used to restore lip volume, diminish vertical lip lines (a.k.a. smoker's lines), accentuate the border of your lips, and enhance the cupid's bow. Results are commonly seen to last up to twelve months with Volbella. Both these dermal fillers provide results that look and feel very natural. 

Volbella, or similar products such as Belotero and Restylane Silk, are thin fillers used to treat scar lines in the skin or lips and to help improve the contour of the tear troughs and lid-cheek junction - places with thin overlying skin. Volbella lasts 6-9 months.Voluma and Restylane Lyft are thick fillers placed deep in the tissues to add volume to the midface and cheeks. Thank you for your excellent question.  Though similar in their hyaluronic acid cross-linking structure, Voluma and volbella are on the opposite ends of dermal filler consistency.  Voluma is thick and best used for augmentation and lifting of tissues, such as in the cheeks, chin, jawline, and temple.   Volbella is a thin and best used in the lips, perioral lines, and lower eyelids.  Hope this helps.

Hi and thanks for your question. Easy answer - Voluma is by far the better filler to use for the cheekbones. Volbella is good for fine lines and lips. Voluma will last much longer and provide much better structure to your cheekbones. Each filler that comes out these days is for a particular indication. Voluma is still the best structural filler. Essentially Voluma is good for facial sculpting and lifting such as the cheeks, jawbone, etc. Volbella is excellent for fine lines such as those on the upper lip and around the mouth.  Volbella would not be good for jawbone or cheek definition as it is very thin and has no lifting effect.  Good Luck
