Has filler in the cheeks made my nasolabial fold look worse?

I'm sorry to hear your concern, carefully placed dermal filler injections in across the zygoma / upper cheeks should create a lifting effect and soften the NL fold. Sometimes if the filler is injected further down and towards the nose in the mid-face this can create a little more of a weighty appearance. 

I would recommend holding off any further dermal filler injections at the moment as the product you have present will naturally settle down and your heavier NL fold will settle down. You can always then re-assess the situation afterwards. It will save you money and any more hassle!

It's
always possible. If the filler is placed lower on the cheek pads sometimes it
can make the area around your mouth look fuller. Other times it's just a little
swelling and it should go away 4 weeks post injection, at the latest.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Unfortunately without a series of before and after pictures it is difficult to offer definite recommendations.  In general well-placed filler into a patient's cheeks will improve the appearance of their NLF as it repositions the cheek mound into a higher position while lifting the surrounding tissues.  I would speak with your injector about your results and see how an adjustment can be made to help minimize your NLF prominence.  Once your cheeks are at an appropriate size, any additional correction would require filler placement into your NLF.  Hope this helps.

Normally, filler in the cheeks makes your NL folds look better. It is possible that yours wasn't placed correctly but hard to say without examining you in person. If things really bother you, I would suggest getting a second in person opinion from a board certified plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist. 

In general, filler in the mid-face/cheeks makes the nasolabial folds look better. But your injector may have placed your filler lower. It's hard to say without examining you in person or seeing before and after photos. Assuming that it has been at least a month since your injections (because otherwise this could just be swelling) the I would suggest that you see your injector to discuss options. Best of luck.

filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. It is difficult to make an assessment without before and after photographs. Normally if Voluma is placed correctly on the cheek it pulls the cheek up and improves the appearance of the nasolabial fold. If placed too low it is possible that it could make the nasolabial fold look worse. Please consult

If the cheek injection is placed low and medial, it is possible to have the NLF look deeper. I like to place some filler in the top of the NLF, in the piriform sinus area in some patients. It is not the entire NLF. In general, cheek filler lifts the cheek and makes the NLF look better.

It is possible that with increasing the cheek volume your nasolabial area may look a little deeper.  In these cases I would advise you to have a small amount of Voluma placed in the nasolabial area as well.  Please consult an expert.  Best, Dr. Green
