3 weeks after Juvederm Voluma will the puffiness/swelling disappear or will I have to dissolve the filler?

I got Juvederm Voluma 3 weeks ago only in cheeks. It was NOT injected in tear troughs . Despite icing, head elevation, I wake up every morning with very noticeable under-eye puffiness that almost all disappears in the evening (still there but much less noticeable). Will this resolve or do I need to get it dissolved. I am worried about the side effects and unpredictablity of injecting hyurolonidase, but I look really tired from the under-eye puffiness. Thank you.

Swelling
is very common after filler injections and some people hold on to swelling
longer than others. If you don't see a change after 6-7 weeks post injection
contact your provider.

Thank you for your question.It is difficult to make a recommendation without seeing any photos. I would recommend following up with your injector to see what their recommendations are for this problem. You can have some swelling after injections, but at 3 weeks it may be a persistent problem for you. Good luck.

here! In some unusual cases, Voluma or other hyaluronic acid fillers may absorb
some additional fluids once injected, and this can cause some fluctuating
swelling throughout the day. If the condition has not been improved after at
least two weeks following the initial injection, I recommend to remove it
by injecting hyaluronidase (preferably the recombinant form, e.g. Hylenex). Hylenex
is not expected to have any long-term effects on your own tissue. I hope it

Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately without a full series of photographs it is difficult to offer definite recommendations.  When placed only into the lateral cheek region, and not the undereyes, Voluma should help improve the appearance of bags by providing a bit of support to the tissues.  If the degree of bagging is significant and you have seen no improvement in the last week period of time the best decision would be to dissolve the Voluma to restore your previous appearance.  Best wishes.

It is quite possible that this puffiness will not dissipate on its own and you will need to have the Voluma dissolved. I would suggest that you wait another month and then reassess. Dissolving filler is as much of an art form as injecting it so if you do go that route, see someone with a lot of experience.

I always think it best to take the most conservative approach. Although patients swelling generally dissipates at 2 weeks, some patients take longer. Give it another 3-4 weeks. If you are still unhappy at that point, make an appointment to see your surgeon. Best of luck.

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to give advice without seeing a photograph. It is normal to have some swelling after injections. However, at 3 weeks this may be a persistent problem. I recommend having this dissolved with hyaluronidase. Voluma tends to be more difficult to remove and may require multiple treatments with hyaluronidase. Best of Luck!

filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. If the product blocks lymphatic drainage in the face it can lead to swelling. The great thing about hyaluronic acid fillers such as Voluma is that they can be dissolved with hyaluronidase and retreated. Please consult
