I had rhinoplasty over six months ago but still have a scar where the incision was made. There's also a really tiny white piece of skin (it's like a dot) where it scabbed up. Will that go away on its own or should I be concerned?
Answer: A scar revision can be done to improve appearance followed by applying Plato's scar serum twice daily Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Revision, some advices: Thank you very much for sharing your concerns about your Rhinoplasty with us. Congratulations for having patience and wait six months PO, which is the recommended time allowed to make judgments of value and be precise and accurate. After having analyzed all the info and photos provided to us, i recommend to perform a Secondary Rhinoplasty (not a tip revision) this means (basically) treat the nasal bones and the nasal cartilages. Therefore i would perform a narrowing of the nasal base (nose osteotomy) and alar and triangular cartilage shaping. Respectfully, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Nasal scar No scar will ever "go away". It may fade further and be hard to find but, it will always be there. The white dot, may be a small inclusion cyst which can be drained. The problem with an open rhinoplasty is that there is a scar that may be visible, like the one that you have.

Answer: Scar after rhinoplasty Without an in-person exam it is a little difficult to tell exactly what's going on with your columellar scar. Patients with darker skin types can develop hyper-pigmentation in the scar that can be quieted down with hydroquinone or lasers. Usually tincture of time and sun protection are all that are required.
