Thank you very much for enquire.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity. In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months. To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Hello, you can wear glasses after a rhinoplasty now. Depending on exactly what you had done during surgery, you may even wear glasses earlier. That is, if no osteotomies or bony work was done, I typically let my patients wear glasses after a week or so. But if your surgeon performed bony work, we usually recommend at least 2 months before wearing glasses. Also, bear in mind you can wear glasses sooner than 2 months if you reduce any pressure the glasses may have sitting on your bridge. A simple trick is to tape your glasses to your forehead. Ultimately, it's best to consult your surgeon since he/she may have their own philosophy. Best wishes.
I ask my patients to refrain from heavy glasses for a few weeks following rhinoplasty. After that time , there are no restrictions. Review your doctors restrictions regarding glasses with his/her staff.
If you were my patient I wouldn't have any problem with wearing glasses this far out. Still, I recommend you discuss that with your doctor.Best,Dr. Michael EpsteinMAE Plastic SurgeryNorthbrook, IL
Dear Nola2016, The nasal bones should have been fully healed by six weeks after surgery. I see no reason why you cannot start wearing glasses at this time. I hope this has been helpful. Robert D. Wilcox, MD
You should be able to , but it is always best to ask your surgeon to see if he is ok with it..........
Every surgeon will be different in their post-operative recommendations. I would ask your surgeon specifically but you should be okay this long after surgery. I like to have people wait three weeks and then when you do start wearing them, only keep them on for an hour or so at a time. There are many other things that can be done like alternating pairs of glasses, placing a small piece of cardstock paper under the glasses, etc. if they start causing any issues. Again, speak with your surgeon. Best of luck
Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Part of that process is avoiding eyeglasses that can put unwanted pressure on the bridge of your nose. This is particularly important if the nasal bone was moved with osteotomies. Even the lightest eyeglasses can leave a dent. Typically most patients are free to wear anything they want after 2 months; however, it person is different. I would ask your surgeon just to be safe. Safety comes first.
I advise patients to avoid wearing glasses for about 5-6 weeks. Pressure on the bridge of the nose should be avoided post nasal surgery. Many rhinoplasties involve controlled breaks of the nasal bones and these bones need time to heal without moving or shifting. pressure from glasses on an already swollen nose may slow lymphtoc drainage of the skin or generally be uncomfortable. Some tricks to get through those weeks are to wear glasses over your nasal splint (if given back to you by your doctor) or to tape the glasses up to your forehead. These looks may not make it to fashion week, but will help you get by.
Wearing glasses after rhinoplasty is not recommnended for a few weeks. During the first days you can move the bone, and after that you can leave marks in the skin. But after 3 months you should be able to wear glasses without any trouble.
