Can steaming your face 1 month post op of open rhinoplasty ruin results or cause swelling?

I had an open rhinoplasty one month ago. My dorsal was shaved, alar base reduction, and narrowing of the bone and bridge. Usually once a week after I exfoliate I steam my face for about 10 minutes. Is that ok to do that one month post op?

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Part of that process is waiting for the swelling to settle down. Avoiding direct sun, heat, and salt can help you avoid unwanted swelling. In the beginning, you'll be asked to keep your nose dry and avoid the steamy shower, because it can make the cast fall off too early. Later in your recovery, the steam and heat that comes with it, can cause unwanted swelling. It is not dangerous; however, you do have to wait longer for that new swelling to go away. Steaming your face for exfoliation should be performed gently. The heat can dehydrate or even injure your skin.
