I think you have to do what you are comfortable with. Experience and training are both very important as is your personal comfort level. Perhaps a second consult with the surgeon you mention and possibly ask for a patient referral you can speak with would help clarify if you want to go with the young surgeon

This is a tough question because we all start somewhere and with only our training as experience, and this can be highly variable. I have been in practice for 21 years and I am certainly a better surgeon today than 20 years ago. However, young surgeons with the right training can certainly achieve good results as I think I did years ago, and typically at a much lower cost. Choose wisely and get referrals from other patients!

I would recommend finding A REAL PLASTIC SURGEON with experience in facial procedures. This means that the person completed 6-7 years of actual plastic surgery training (not a "facial plastic surgeon"). It is important to see what the surgeon is board certified in. It is many common for people to falsely state that they are board certified in plastic surgery, but when you look at their certifications...they actually have certifications in otolaryngology followed by a non-accredited "facial plastic surgery fellowship". The reality is that only a plastic surgeon with adequate training should be doing these complex facial procedures. Please find a good provider. Best of luck!

Yes indeed, lack of experience is a risk for many different complications. The deep plane facelift has a higher incidence of facial nerve branch paralysis than her traditional smas facelift. You also need to consider getting a letter of clearance from your primary care physician before undergoing elective cosmetic surgery under general anesthesia.
