Are there any long term effects associated with a lip lift?

Are there any long term negative effects of getting a lip lift in your 30s? Wondering why they are so popular right now yet so few surgeons perform them? Is the technique challenging for most?

The lip lift is an amazing operation.  I performed five last week!  It is now standard practice for most facelifts I do because the lip gets longer over time and the upper teeth disappear.In young patients with an excessive lip nose distance, the procedure can significantly enhance facial beauty and proportion.That being said, the technique is very very technique dependent.  That is to say the results vary widely from surgeon to surgeon.  Excessive resection should be avoided as it causes dog ears at the alar bases and visible scarring.

Lip lift long term effects. I have done lip lifts for 45 years. They give excellent results with no long-term negative effects. Various ages require different types of lip lifts in my opinion. See a very experienced lip lift surgeon who does many of these with natural results.

We are seeing an evolving epidemic of distorted lips and faces as a consequence of this poorly thought out surgery. If you are suggestible, perhaps you will believe your surgeon and their staff that you look marvelous. But one day you may wake up and recognize that you have ruined you natural face with a surgery that pulls up the central lip and often makes an unhappy scar under the nose. Wake up and understand the long term consequences of these distorting surgeries. My two cents.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  With correct patient selection, there are no long-term effects to a lip lift, but it is wise to seek a specialist in consultation to avoid negative aesthetic outcomes.  The technique can be challenging in so much that the scar appearance needs to be inconspicuous.  Hope this helps.

There are no general, negative long term effects to a lip lift. However, it is a permanent procedure, so that should be kept in mind when considering the lip lift. 
The ideal candidate for the Elelyft, or upper lip lift, is someone with a philtral length of 15mm or longer, no upper dental show, and/or a thin upper lip. The nasal base to mouth width ratio needs to be taken into consideration to avoid leaving the lip corners down. 
It is a challenging technique due to the symmetry of the lips. However, it creates a more youthful, elegant look by decreasing the philtrum length while simultaneously increasing the size of the upper lip. 
Consult with an experienced lip surgeon for a complete range of options that are appropriate for your situation.

A lip lift is a permanent procedure to shorten the length of your upper lip. There will be a scar from the incision which is hopefully hidden along the natural crease beneath your nose. of course there are long term effects. It takes away lip skin and you have a scar forever, The issue is whether it makes you look better and is worth the scar. In general older people do better than young people with this procedure as they need it more and the healing is better. This procedure is getting very trendy now and so shortly there will be lots of people walking around with distorted lips that I don't think can be fixed. Any procedure done for money will be overdone. You need to find someone  who has enough integrity to talk you out of the procedure if it will not help you.  Good luck.
