I am 3 weeks post op and healing well. can do about 25 squats a day without weights and holding onto a chair for support? Im not engaging my core in any way. I was thinking Ive been doing 50 a day since the first week anyway because anytime I had to get clothes out of the bottom Drawer or get something off the ground or go to the bathroom I've been squatting with a straight back because I can't bend over. My dr cleared me to lift up to 10lbs and start walking at a moderate to brisk pace.
Answer: Tummy Tuck: exercise and healing Hi Derman,I understand your zeal to maintain muscle and tone. I would suggest that you be evaluated and cleared by your ps prior to working out doing squats. Per your question above, He has cleared you at this point to lift 10lbs and moderate walking.Squats do engage your core muscles and could put undue strain on your incisions and internal muscular healing. Always contact your ps before undertaking any new activities so that the need for revision surgery is decreased or eliminated. Best Wishes to You!#exercise #musclerepair #healing #coremuscles #

Answer: Exercise after Tummy Tuck In my opinion, I would not want that level of exercise at this point for my patients after a tummy tuck. This level of exercise may injury the muscle, place stress on the healing incision and increase the possibility of seroma formation. I would recommend that you stick to light walking at this point.

Answer: Exercise after surgery You should only follow your surgeon's advise and directions. I generally don't let my patients do too much for at least 4-6 weeks.

Answer: Exercise after tummy tuck As you referenced in your comments, you should follow the instructions of your operative surgeon as he or she knows you and the specifics of your surgery best. I typically will allow light non-impact cardio beginning at 4-6 weeks and unrestricted activity including weight-lifting and impact exercise beginning at 8 weeks. I also recommend compression garments for at least 4-6 weeks. You have had a big operation with a significant commitment both financially and personally. Better to play it on the conservative side and maximize your chance of getting the best result possible! Good luck with your recovery and results!

Answer: Regular walking is ideal exercise for 3 weeks post-op. At 3 weeks post-op, you're still fairly early in the healing process after a tummy tuck. Your squat work is probably fine, since you mention you’re required to use your quadriceps whenever you reach down to grab something, but don’t push yourself. Your body is still in recovery even if you feel capable of doing more exercise. Most surgeons recommend waiting at least 6 weeks before attempting to exercise your core or practice rigorous aerobics like jogging or using an elliptical machine. I suggest you participate in regular walking if you’re interested in getting back into routine exercise. Even simply walking about the house will stimulate your blood circulation, which is essential during the healing process. If you’re feeling restless, take a couple of walks outside throughout the day. It’s best to wait a couple more weeks before engaging in more strenuous physical activity.
