CoolSculpting® is totally non-invasive and should not affect your Mirena device in any way. The cold temperatures used during CoolSculpting® specifically target fat cells and do not cause any changes to the skin, muscle or bones around them. Make sure you are receiving your CoolSculpting® treatment from a qualified CoolSculpting® technician with the proper training and experience.
Yes, you are safe to have CoolSculpting if you have an IUD. There are no gynecological contraindications to having this procedure.Best of luck,Oscar A. Aguirre, MDUrogynecologist & Cosmetic Vaginal Surgeon
Hi wik9248. No, CS on your lower abdomen will not effect your IUD. The cold temperatures do not effect your skin above the fat, or the muscles, bones, organs etc. below the fat that you are treating. A high quality CS provider may have advanced training (Coolsculpting University), multiple machines, the new applicators that take less time and are more comfortable, and an on site physician. Best wishes,
Coolsculpting is a non- invasive treatment that treats fat on the outside of the abdominal wall. The applicators cannot affect any organs or devices implanted in the uterus. You are safe to have the procedure.Best of luck!
No, your Coolsculpting treatment shouldn't affect your IUD. For best results with Coolsculpting, I recommend a combination approach. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. VASER with ThermiRF is a great alternative. Dont' let distance dissuade you, see an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
CoolSculpting only targets the subcutaneous layer of fat (the layer just below the skin), and doesn’t have any impact on layers beyond that, such as your muscles or organs. Your IUD will be unaffected. Thank you for reaching out!
CoolSculpting will not impact your IUD in any way. The CoolScultping treatment areas are nowhere near the uterus, so it won't affect the IUD. Hope this helps,Dr. Garry K. Kim
There should be no problem here. During the CoolSculpt procedure, applicators are placed on targeted fat pads. The freezing effect is limited to the tissue in the applicator. The applicators cannot affect tissue under the abdominal wall (ie your uterus).
Hi wik9248. No, absolutely not. The CoolSculpting device only treats the superficial fat layer. In other words, it will not affect the muscle or underneath the muscle in the abdomen which is where your uterus is located and your IUD is placed.
The cold temperature that Coolsculpting uses to eliminate fat only penetrates so deep. It will only kill a thin layer of external fat and does not affect any internal organ. It should be no issue to do procedure with IUD.

Thanks for your question! A huge benefit of choosing a CoolSculpting treatment is that you may resume your normal workouts after your treatment as soon as you feel comfortable doing so. It is completely normal to be a little bit swollen and/or sore in the weeks following your treatment, so...
Thank you for your question. It is uncommon to have pain in an area that was not treated with Coolsculpting. It is common to have swelling, numbness, and bruising in a treated area which can take several weeks to resolve. You can take Tylenol to help with your discomfort. If your symptoms do not...
