Is it better to have one area at a time treated with CoolSculpting rather than several areas at once?

I was wondering if the body removes the dead fat cells after the treatment more efficiently with a smaller area (one area) rather than a larger area (several areas at a time)?

Hello, Thank you for your question. As of now, there is no data to support a smaller treatmetn area having better results. Most patients choose to treat as many areas as they can in one sitting. Either way is fine, it is primarily a personal choice.

Hi there, and thanks for your question. If you’re looking to maximize your results in a shorter amount of time, try to find a plastic surgeon in your area who offers DualSculpting™. There are two main advantages to this technique. First, if you plan to have multiple areas treated, you can essentially cut your treatment time in half by having them both performed using separate machines at the same time. Secondly, treating the same session back-to-back can eliminate up to 60 percent of the targeted fat cells, as they are already numb from the previous session, making the second one more efficient.

It depends how much of an area is treated. There are small and big applicators and until you get an in person evaluation the CoolSculpting specialist will determine which one is better. Applicators should only overlap by 50%. If you want to treat one area, multiple times then you have to wait at least a month before having an additional treatment.

The more areas you treat in one visit, the happier you will be. Just be certain that you are prepared to treat as much the second time around. Each area should be treated at least twice to achieve optimal results. So, if your budget only allows for one area and two visits, than that is the better option. However, if you can afford to treat multiple areas in one visit and can retreat in a few months, then you will see great results.

Some patients like to space out treatments of multiple areas to allow for time or budget management.  Because CoolSculpting is so patient driven, you can opt to have one area treated or multiple areas, all in the same day!  
I do recommend to my tummy patients that if they are planning to treat both the upper and lower abdomen, they may want to treat both within a month of each other to keep the result time frame consistent, but again, it is personal choice.

Coolsculpting treatment should work in any suitable location resulting in a 20-25% reduction in the fat cells in the areas treated whether one area is treated or several. This said, patients often will focus on one area at a time (ie, treat the entire abdomen) and treat to completion (usually a series of two treatments about 3 months apart) instead of treating multiple areas (ie, abdomen, flanks, arms, etc) to see the most impressive results one area at a time before moving to the next area.
