You need a formal evaluation by a licensed plastic surgeon and expert in abdominal surgery to determine what is best for you and your goals. The key to a successful tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) is to address the multiple layers that are damaged with pregnancies or weight fluctuations. For most patients I will perform internal rectus muscle plication to flatten and tighten the abdominal wall while creating a better waistline. The excess abdominal skin and fat is then excised and tightened, leaving a low, discreet transverse scar. Keeping this scar as low as possible is important so my patients can wear normal bikinis and low-cut jeans. For many patients, I will use liposuction as an adjunctive procedure to further refine the torso. To accelerate recovery and reduce the risk of complications, I spend extra time placing progressive tension sutures to tack the abdominal tissues down to the abdominal wall and eliminate space for fluid to collect. I also use a medication called Exparel that is a local anesthetic that releases over a 3-day period; by injecting this carefully in the surgical areas, particularly where the muscle is tightened, I am able to dramatically reduce the immediate discomfort associated with abdominoplasties.Ideal candidates for this procedure are women who have had children or experienced extreme weight loss and were left with excess skin. During the evaluation, we will discuss your needs and identify the best abdominoplasty technique for you.I suggest consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon and expert in body contouring. - Dr. Cohen
Thank you for the question. The best advice you can get is from consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Your weight and height will determine your body mass index (BMI). Ideally, you would like your BMI to be less than 30, however, this decision is individualized based on your overall health status and what procedure you are having among others. The closer you are to your ideal body weight, the better the results of the surgery and the less likelihood of perioperative complications. I think weight loss would help to create a more favorable final result. However, this may or may not be realistic for you. Liposuction in conjunction with a TT will remedy the abdomen and the pubic area at the same time. A tummy tuck is a safe procedure when performed with good clinical judgment and technical mastery in the appropriate patient.
Yes, you are a candidate for a tummy tuck and other surgery. However the fact you ask for liposuction as well, suggests to me that you're still not 100% happy with your weight or shape overall. In general, liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss. I'd definitely be counselling you about reaching a goal weight prior to having any surgery done. Best wishes, Mark.
Thank you for your question. Based on your photos you appear to have abdomen sagging skin excess, several stretch marks and unaesthetic scar makes you a full tummy tuck candidate. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Hi and welcome to our forum!Your candidacy for cosmetic surgery requires consideration of manyfactors. One is measurement of your BMI (body mass index equals weight in kg /square of height in meters). You can find BMI calculators on the internet. Ifyour BMI is > 30, the cosmetic result will not be optimal. If your BMI is> 35, your operative risk will rise. Your BMI is 32.89. Weight loss through diet and exerciseis recommended before surgery to achieve an optimal result. If not achievable, a bariatric procedure (such as a gastricsleeve) will result in significant weight loss. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and advice.Best wishes...
Dear Sociable6947,Congrats on the weight loss! Generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a tummy tuck, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello dear! Thanks for the pictures and provided information as well.Based on your photos, you are a great candidate for liposuction and a full tummy tuck, to give you a nice tight tummy and get rid of the extra skin. Along with the tummy tuck, liposuction allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. You improve your waist, back and flanks. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.Good luck :)
Hi, thanks for sharing your concern and photos with us!Looking at your photos I might say that you´ll be a great candidate to get an entire back, waist and flanks liposuction, with BBL, and tummy tuck, this is because all the extra skin located in this areas plus your abdominal muscle needs to be repaired. Before all this, of course, you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. Also please try to find a board certified plastic surgeon, remember that your safety, always, is going to be first.Have a great day! Dr. JPG
It is best for you to lose weight before considering the procedures you mentioned. This is for your safety, to optimize results, and to keep risks such as infection and poor wound healing from increasing. Typically it is recommended that a patient have a BMI of 30 or under when considering elective plastic surgery.
Thanks for the question. Based on your photo, tummy tuck would be a good option for you. Still, it's hard to say anything definite just by seeing your photo and listening to your complaint. Your health status and the result of the consultation will give me a chance to comment. I recommend choose...
I was trained to use permanent sutures for diastasic repair but after i had a few cases of sutures that did cause a problem such as a suture abscess or granuloma and after a long-lasting dissolvable monofilament suture came out, PDS, i switched.  i haven't noticed any problem with the...
