Does an extended tummy tuck lift the buttocks significantly?

Question

Greatest concern is saggy buttocks. Not a massive weight loss patient. Two surgeons have recommended an extended tummy tuck, which they believe will provide a buttocks lift. However, I have not seen any back view pictures to substantiate this. In your expert opinion can an extended tummy tuck result in significant improvement of a saggy tush?

A circumferential tummy tuck is very powerful to reshape your tummy and waist. It also tightens your UPPER buttocks. it doesn't generally help the bottom of your "bottom". If getting more bore lift in your buttock is a priority than I wold recommend adding a buttock lift. This adds a little more work for the surgeon but the scar and recovery is essentially the same. Great question!  An extended tummy tuck will probably not provide you with the buttock lift you desire.  This will require a body lift where the incisions go around the entire back.  This is also called a belt lipectomy if you perform the tummy tuck as well.  Only with the incision that croses the entire backside will there be any substantial lift to the buttocks.  Seek a few more consultations with board certified plastic surgeon for more options.Best of luck and hope this information helps!

By definition, all tummy tucks improve the front of your body, and in the case of an extended you may get some lifting of the sides of your legs. But not the buttocks.  That requires a circumferential procedure or a lower body lift.  That can be done by simply lifting the skin, or in combination with local or free fat transfer to add volume.

The short answer is no, an extended abdominoplasty will not really alter the buttock area.  That requires a true circumferential body lift with specific attention to the gluteal area.  You have to decide whether the circumferential scar is worth it for the potential results you may see in the buttock area.  Based on your picture you are not bad, so it is something to discuss with board certified plastic surgeons in your area.

extended tummy tuck probably won't provide significant butt lift. In order to achieve that, you will need an incision on your back, like in case of circumferential abdominoplasty. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

I would agree with others here.  The best way to ensure you get a significant lift of the buttock is to plan on a circumferential lift.  This is sometimes called a Belt Lipectomy or Body Lift Procedure.  An extended TT usually just helps eliminate dogears.

Even a belt abdominoplasty (circumferential) will not really give you the lift you probably want. You are best off looking at a buttock lift if that is your main concern.
