Alarplasty and tip plasty combined- recovery time? Is this still swelling?

hello doctors, i had a tip surgery and alarplasty surgery approximately 1.5 months ago, coming upto 7 weeks now. at first after removal of the bandage/cover on my nose, the tip and nostrils looked really good. they looked smaller, and my tip looked a little longer and alittle more defined. however, as time has passed, the swelling has reduced in my tip, it looks as if it is getting flatter and my nostrils are looking wider then presurgery. is this still swelling? my doc says so. p.s im asianskin

Dear Hanifa26,It is still early in your healing process to tell how your nose will turn out. There is still a lot of swelling 7 weeks post-op.It can take 6-12 months to fully heal from a rhinoplasty so patience is key.Best regards,Nima Shemirani

Thanks for sharing your questions. At only 6 weeks postoperative from rhinoplasty surgery, it is highly likely that the changes you are seeing in your nose are due to swelling. Healing after rhinoplasty surgery takes a lot of patience. It will take at least one full year for all of the swelling to resolve. Remember to maintain close follow up with your rhinoplasty surgeon during this first year to be reassured that your healing is going as expected. Good luck!Dr. Harmych

Thank you for the question. It is rather difficult to fully evaluate your situation without an in-person exam and in the absence of photos.  
If you had rhinoplasty 1.5 months ago, you will not be able to observe the final results of your procedure just yet. Most likely your nose seems uneven as a result of post-operative swelling, which is not uncommon and may take up to 6 months to completely resolve. Considering that you had your rhinoplasty done fairly recently, I'd recommend giving it some time to 'settle'.  
An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon is the best way to assess your needs and obtain expert medical advice. Best of luck!
