I really like the profile view of my nose, my only concern is with age my nose seems to have spread and I would like to have alarplasty performed to address that. I do not desire a very defined tip. I'm just concerned with the breadth or width of my nose in proportion to my face. Is it possible?

Answer: Alarplasty To answer your question, absolutely. You can certainly have just the alar base procedure performed, and it can be done under local anesthesia. It is very well tolerated, with only minimal swelling and bruising. Stitches come out fairly quickly. Best of luck!

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. I agree with your assessment that the base of your nose appears wide. Alarplasty can help address this. Based on your photograph, you may also benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
