My neck is tight and I have no jowls but want my profile to look tighter under the chin, from the side view. No fat under neck either. Think its loose skin. What is best option?
Answer: Loose neck bands can be corrected with a small incision under the chin in young patients Thank you for your question about #necklift. I have seen several younger patients, in the 20s and 30s in whom I saw premature separation of their neck muscles (platysma). Those can easily be repaired with a small under-the-chin incision and muscle repair. Assuming your skin is healthy and still have some elasticity, this might be the only thing needed. A small chin implant can also help defining the lower face. Chin and nose are studied together when evaluating the need for a chin surgery so an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon would likely provide you with quality informations about your options. Hope this helps! Best regards, #DrMarcDuPere, #Toronto #plasticsurgeon

Answer: Neck Bands Their is no "correct" answer to this question. An examination could help define the possibilities. In a simple analysis there are 3 components- excess skin, excess fatty tissue, and separated platysma muscles. It is unusual to have separated muscles as an isolated problem but in that situation simple suturing them is effective. More commonly some type of neck lift to remove the excess skin and any fat is preferable.

Answer: Loose neck Hi there. Certainly an examination would be helpful to assess the overall laxity of your lower face and neck. However, based on the information given, there may be a few options. One would be to perform a minimal platysmaplasty to tighten the muscles underneath the chin. Secondly, a chin implant may help provide a stronger profile (with our without tightening the muscles under the chin). Lastly, a mini necklift may also be beneficial if the skin needs some tightening as well as the muscles on the sides of the face.

Answer: Double Chin Treatment / Laxity-- SmartLipo/VASER/ThermiRF, Botox, Venus Legacy, Kybella I treat this everyday in my practice. You may be a surgical candidate but you do not need surgery for improvement. Properly performed liposuction with energy based devices and physical fat removal will do fantastic to remove the fat, lift the skin, and contour the jawline. I pretreat everyone with Botox 1-2 weeks before surgery to relax the neck muscles, allowing for better retraction of the skin after surgery. Then after treatment we do skin tightening with Venus Legacy to improve the results and decrease the neck swelling. I suggest you only see an expert for treatment of this area as a meticulous surgeon is required to get great results and complications in this area can be devastating both medically and cosmetically. A new medication that is used to remove chin fat with injections called Kybella may also be an option, as it secondarily allows for skin tightening/lifting as well. TheriRF can be used for just neck bands and has almost no downtime. A formal consultation is needed to determine what are the best options for you. Best, Dr. Emer.
