I'm 41, had this done last year when I was 40. I think I need a neck lift or surgery to remove the excess skin; or are there any minimal surgeries I can consider instead of a neck lift? Most of the skin is the dreaded turkey gobbler starting to happen. More pictures of before and after are on my profile. I have a lot of excess skin under my chin from the neck lipo that didn't tighten. Do I need a full on neck lift or are there other smaller surgery options available?
Answer: Small Surgery Options I am disappointed by your surgeon to hear that your are not pleased with the results. I suggest you consult a board certified facial plastic surgeon to receive the highest quality knowledge, treatment, care and skill available. A consultation provides you the opportunity to relay your concerns and desired outcome to the surgeon while the surgeon can assess your health profile and discuss his/her pertinent advice. One of the best small surgery options includes the Laser-Assisted Weekend Necklift, an ideal solution for the 40-55 year old with early sagging of the upper neck and jowl area. The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation. A small, hidden incision is created in the natural fold under the chin and then, instead of using a scalpel, I use a laser, liposuction, and sometimes a chin implant to improve the appearance of a sagging face, jowls, and neck. The Laser-Assisted Weekend Necklift provides patients the natural appearance they desire in a few short days of a recovery period with minimal discomfort.

Answer: Turkey Neck from Liposuction Unfortunately is common to end up with a "turkey neck" after liposuction under the chin. There are a few reasons for this, but the most common is that fact that the surgeon did not take the time to adequately assess the quality of the facial and neck skin beforehand. As a general statement, once a person enters his/her 40s, there has been enough laxity of the skin and muscle so that simple under-the-chin liposuction is not a favorable choice. This can actually make the neck appear worse afterwards. In your case, based on your picture only, I would recommend a full lower facelift/necklift to tighten up the muscles/skin and give you back your facial shape and profile. Depending on your surgeon, this procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and oral sedation (as we have done in our office for almost a decade).

Answer: Neck lift after lipo You are a great candidate for a neck lift and a face lift. It appears you have mild laxity under the chin, in the nasolabial folds and the jowls. All of those areas will be improved with the surgery. Fractional carbon dioxide laser would enhance your results further, but you would need surgical lifting as well for optimal results.

Answer: Neck Lift surgery can help A Neck Lift can most definitely help your situation. The advantage of a Neck Lift is that neck muscles can be tightened in order to provide more contour to the area, and excess skin is also removed where necessary so you won't have to worry about a turkey gobbler any more!
