Tylenol before lipo 360 + BBL. Is it safe? Can it cause any trouble during lipo?

Hello,I’m wondering why some doctors recommend taking Tylenol the morning of surgery, while others don’t. Is Tylenol safe? Or could it cause any trouble during lipo? I plan on taking Tylenol, bromelain, arnica and hemaplex up until the day of my surgery.

Tylenol has pain relieving and inflammation reducing properties. It isn't the strongest medication for each of these, however, some doctors believe every little bit helps while others think it doesn't make enough of a difference to bother writing the orders for it. It is an integral part of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocol (ERAS) which prepares the patient for surgery by reducing the need of other, more aggressive medications such as anesthetics and steroids. Tylenol is safe as long as you don't have any underlying liver disease and I have never expected t it to cause any trouble during liposuction. I have incorporated Tylenol into the pre-operative regimen for my patients and it's been nothing but helpful in the perioperative period.

Thankyou for your query. It is best to follow your surgeon’s protocol, but tylenol (acetaminophen) does not cause any problems with the procedures you have mentioned, to the best of my knowledge. However, the other supplements you have mentioned, should be discussed with your plastic surgeon. All the best!

Hi Neat837424Every surgeon has its own preference when it comes to pain regimen for surgery. Tylenol is safe before the surgery as long as you have no allergy or liver issues. Also remember to stay within the daily recommended dose. In my practice, I place all my patients on Tylenol. However, is best that you follow your surgeons' instructions. Good luck with surgery.

Please keep in mind every doctor has their own protocol and for some doctors this can help for their patient recovery and another like me prefer to wait until after surgery to provide the patient medication as paracetamol or another pain medication. Always talk with your doctor the way you need to prepare your body before surgery specially which vitamins or supplements he/she allow you to take. Hope this help. Tylenol if needed is typically okay to take the days leading up to surgery.  Surgeons generally will want you to avoid NSAIDS and aspirin before surgery as they can increase bleeding.  If you are having general anesthesia you should not take anything by mouth after midnight the day of your surgery unless instructed to do so by your surgeon.
