How long does a facial fillers last in the face?

Thank you for your question.  Voluma is a very good filler for your cheeks and midface.  It is a bit of a larger molecule, so it is usually placed deeper in the skin, (subdermal).  The sales people will tell you it lasts about 2 years.  In our experience it last about a year and a half.  As far as Juvederm Ultra Plus, (which we like for the nasolabial folds), and Juvederm Ultra, (which we like for the lips), the sales people will tell you it lasts about a year, in reality about 9 months. Every person is different so it can last a longer or shorter time period, depending on the patient.  It has been our experience that some folks that are hypermetabolic, (in the gym twice a day, etc.), tend to break down Botox and Fillers faster.  Each individual is different though. Hi and thank you for your question! The longevity of filler in face is primarily dependent on the type of filler and it can range from 6 months to 2 years for commonly used hyaluronic acid fillers. Assuming that you got Voluma, it is generally expected to last up to 2 years although individual results may vary. Regardless, one of the advantages of hyaluronic acid fillers such as Voluma is that we can easily revise or dissolve them with enzyme injection and if you are not happy with the results, you don't have to wait for the filler to go away on its own and it can be dissolved by your doctor if needed. If you aren't happy with your results you can go back to your provider and ask for hyaluronidase to essentially dissolve it. Make sure you are with a skilled provider to do so. I find most fillers (depending on which one you had and how much) usually last 1 year and slightly longer at best. Best of Luck.

Each person metabolizes filler at different rates depending on the amount and type injected as well as where the product was placed in the face.  Based on your narrative it sounds that you had Voluma placed into your cheek and are unhappy with the volume it created.  The good news is that it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase to restore your previous appearance.  Hope this helps.

Typically cheek filler last anywhere from 12 to 14 months. If you do not like the product that was placed in your cheeks I would recommend following up with your provider. Your provider should be able to hylenex the area to remove the filler.

Thank you for your question. Typically, fillers last anywhere from 6 months up to a year. The length of results depends on the areas being treated, with the lips lasting the shortest and under the eye hollows the longest. Please make sure you seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist.

How long they last will depend on a number of factors such as what type of fillers was injected, where it was injected and at what depth, how many injections you've had before, and your body's ability to metabolize the products. I find that Voluma can start fading away as early as 9 months. Discuss with your plastic surgeon the possibility of a hyaluronidase injection to remove the filler material.

Sorry to hear that you still have concerns so long after your injections.  Studies have shown that the results of Voluma can persist for up to two years, but in my experience, the clinical effects usually have declined considerable by a year.  The truth is fillers are either resorbed by the effects of the immune system or by mechanical degradation, especially in anatomic sites with a lot of movement.  The immune response varies between individuals, and movement may vary by site that is injected.  Know that if you have ongoing concerns, and don't want to wait for the result to simply abate that you could be treated with hyaluronidase to enzymatically degrade the filler.  Consider following up with your injector to address your concerns.  

There is possibility to predict how long the filler will last. What the manufacturers say has nothing to do with each individual case. One would be extremely lucky to have Juvederm Voluma lasting 2 years. It all depends on how this information is given. For example, you can prove on the biopsy that after 2 years there is still a residual of the injected filler. However, practically, it makes not much difference since the residual will not produce any visible effect you may be expecting. Depending of your location, there are many fillers around the world that will last long. Yet, it all depends on your injector's skills how the filler is injected, in which compartments and for what reasons. Although you have provided no photos, your description may suggest that your filler injection was excessive in some areas making un-natural features. All can be corrected but the most important problem for you is to find a good injector. The best way is through the word of mouth and not through marketing, ads or self-promotions. Good luck!
