I have had my cheek bone augmented with too much Voluma 6mths ago. How long until this is metabolized? (photos)

Photo shows the cheeks bones that now stick out too much in my opinion. I am scared of getting this dissolved as some believe that it can be harmful. I come from European background with high cheek bones already. I didn't realize she would put in so much I believe up to 2 mls. Now when I smile I am quite wide in the face and cheeky. All this to try to lift my minor jowling and this didn't really work.

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that your results have not been what you anticipated.  You will likely start to see a decrease in your cheeks around the 1-1.5 year mark.  If this is too long I would urge you to have the material dissolved as this is quite safe for you and your facial tissues.  Hope this helps.

Thankyou for your question. Voluma lasts from 18 months to 2 years. If you are not happy you should go back to your injector and get some of the filler dissolved. You do not have to worry about the dissolving agent ( Hyalase) . There is a very small chance of allergy. Hope this helps

While studies indicate Voluma has a duration of up to 2 years, you will likely see the effects of the product diminish after a year.  Hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve the product and has no associated danger or complications.  You may consider having this injected to reverse your results.   Best of luck.

I am sorry you don't like the results of your Voluma.  I find, especially when it is a patient's first time with Voluma, that the results begin to diminish after about 12 months and are fully gone between 15 - 18 months.  However, there is no danger to using the enzyme, so you should consider that if you don't want to wait.

Thank you for your question. It can take about a year and a half for the product to metabolize. There really aren't any dangers to hyaluronidase - the substance used to remove the filler. If it truly bothers you, you may want to just have this done. Typically patients need multiple treatments to get rid of all of the filler. Best of luck!

Hi, sorry to hear that your Voluma has more effect than you wanted.  Although Allergan says Voluma will last for 2 years, realistically, the effects start to fade gradually at about the 1 year mark and in all likelihood you will be back to your normal shape and size by 1.5 years after injection.  If waiting is not an option, then your providers can literally melt the filler with hyalourinidase over a series of treatments.  Hope this helps!
