Tummy tuck surgery can result in a loss of some sensation of the lower abdominal skin. But there should be no effect on vaginal sensation. Best of luck!
A tummy tuck targets your mid-section, which is far away from your vagina. If your surgery is extensive, it could cause numbness in the upper portion of your groin area, but this is usually temporary and subsides as the swelling goes down. As for the vaginal area, though, it shouldn’t be a concern.
The nerves to the vagina shouldn't be affected but some permanent numbness to the skin above the Mons always results because of the undermining that is part of abdominoplasty.
There should be no loss of sensation in the vagina after tummy tuck/abdominoplasty. These concerns may be the result I'm hearing about loss of sensation in the pubic area from the operation. This can't happen, but is quite a bit higher than any vaginal areas. It is imperative that you seek the advice of a plasticsurgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and hasextensive experience in tummy tuck/abdominoplasty. I wish you the best. Dr. Gabbay.
Tell your friend that she doesn't need to worry. A tummy tuck should not affect the nerves in the vagina. Hope this helps, Dr. Nazarian
Anatomically impossible. Historically, having performed about a thousand of this procedure, I have never had this complaint from my patients or heard of this from other colleagues
Hello. After a tummy tuck patients do experience loss of feeling around the incision and mid- abdomen. The area of the mons pubis may have altered sensation which can be temporary or permanent. Vaginal sensory changes have never been a complaint in my practice. Dr. B
This is not a real concern, as the nerves that stimulate this area are no where near the surgical area. Epidural anesthesia, though does have a small risk of causing this,as the nerves are near the area in the back where am epidural anesthetic is performed. I do a lot of mons pubis liposuction in my liposuction and my tummy tuck procedures and have never seen this happen.
There is little to no chance that one will lose sensation to the vaginal area due to a TT.Select a board certified PS and your chances of a complication are much less.Tell your friend, not to worry
Innervation of the vagina is seperate and distinct from abdominal wall nerve distribution. I personally have performed over 1300 TT's. I am in repetitive discussion with colleagues. I am not aware of even a psychologically related sensory lose post TTof vaginal sensation.
It sounds as though your drains may be clogged. See your chosen surgeon for recommendations. Best of luck.
A lot of the boxy of the abdomen, hips, and waist depends on your basic anatomy. If you have a large rib cage and narrow hips, it can be harder to achieve a curvy appearance. That said, liposuction of the hips, flanks and waist plus thoughtful sculpting of the abdominal muscles can...
It is normal to have these sensations after a tummy tuck/abdominoplasty.They certainly can last for three months in some cases more. They generally do subside with time. If they continue, you should certainly have a discussion with your plastic surgeon. It is imperative that you seek the advice...
Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL,...
Massage may help reduce swelling in the abdomen after Tummy tuck/abdominoplasty. The likelihood that it will improve numbness that is associated with nerve nerves being cut as a part of the operation is very small. Be patient, a large proportion of your sensation will return over the next...
I do not know the percentage for fat embolism. however sadly I must disagree with my colleague. there was a well publicized death in Philadelphia of a young girl who died from a fat embolism after lipo of the neck. I quote to my patients a 3-4 % risk of thromboembolic event...
