I am considering Ultherapy for acne scars on my cheek area and for a few lines eye area. Would you recommend this procedure?

I did laser more than 2 yrs ago. It helped considerably. I want to try ultherapy bc I researched it helps with acne scars. But I don't want it to change the form of my face or make me look weird, or to make my eyes look worse.

In our practice we offer a number of treatments for acne scars. Depending on the type of scars, Ulthera can be a good treatment. We've had positive outcomes using the 1.5 transducer, which is a very superficial treatment that targets the top layer of skin. Combining treatments for scars works best. We often do microneedling with PRP and Ulthera 1.5 together for more dramatic results.Best of luck!

For acne scarring, we do not recommend Ultherapy. We would recommend microneedling, fractora, or fracxel 1440. We have seen fantastic results in the eye area with Ultherapy. It will target those few lines that you are seeing. Book your consultation with a licensed medical aesthetican.

Thank you for your question.  Ultherapy is not the best treatment for acne scars.  Fractional Laser Scar treatment can produce outstanding results. Pulses of light energy break down scar tissue, causing new tissue that is lighter in color and more even in texture to form in its place. New collagen develops, resulting in smoother looking skin. It works on any skin type, from very light to very dark skin.

Hi there,Ultherapy is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment. It is a great option for lifting the eyebrows, joules, and neck. Ultherapy uses an ultrasound technology which by passes the top layers of skin, therefore, it is not the best treatment for top layer damage (such as acne scarring or sun spots). Lasers, such as CO2, are great options for improving acne damage. I suggest scheduling a consultation with your local cosmetic Doctor to determine which laser treatments would be best for you. Ultherapy is not the best treatment for acne scars. Acne scars are treated most effectively with a combination of treatments including lasers, microneedling, fillers, chemical peels, subcision, at home skin care, etc. Usually multiple treatment sessions are needed. It is an ongoing process and commitment is key. The goal should be improvement and not total elimination. Make sure you find an experienced provider to minimize complications. Best wishes.

A combination approach will give the most improvement. These types of scars need a combination of lasers, microneedling/prp, Cosmelan, subcision and fillers. It will take a series of treatments and will need some treatments to maintain. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Ulthera would not be a first choice for acne scars.  Better off doing microneedling with radiofrequency such as Infini, or non-ablative laser resurfacing.  These both heat up the deep tissues and increase collagen production to help with the scars.  Some ablative resurfacing can also help, and I will often do that after either the non-ablative or the RF.  Find someone in  your area that does a lot of laser and scar work.

I am a huge fan of Ultherapy, but not for acne scars. Think of your face as a house.
Ultherapy works to support and re-build the beams and framework underneath the skin, down to the SMAS layer.  The acne scars are more superficial, and usually respond well to laser. In our office, we use the Icon laser with excellent results.  While Ultherapy does have a superficial transducer, we see better results with Icon for acne scars, but wonderful "glow" results with the Ulthera 1.5 superficial transducer.

Thanks for your question. Ultherapy is not the ideal treatment to clear acne scars. It uses ultrasound technology to increase the production of collagen, which can tighten and lift the skin. While it can provide some volume for the acne scars to treat, there are other methods such as peels, microneedling and lasers that are a better fit. I recommend you see a dermatologist or facial plastic surgeon to better understand which treatment is right for you.

I had Ultherapy in early December 2017 on my marionette lines. What sort of follow up care is needed?
