This area was stabbed over but the scab fell off. The area when I run my fingers over it over my sports bra feels like a hole. I'm concerned. My left boob healed normally, only this side is having issues. What should I do? Will this heal on its own? Should it have healed by now?
Answer: Wound separation after lift and implants Thank you for your question and photos. Unfortunately this is the most common area to have a wound problem with the anchor type scar. This will heal on it's own but I would have your surgeon keep close tabs on you and the progress of the wound as the implant can be at mild risk with any open wound on the breast. Best wishes.

Answer: Wound after augmentation with lift Thanks for your inquiry. Any wound on an incision where an implant may be near is a significant issue. Please make sure your plastic surgeon has examined your wound and devised a treatment plan. Good Luck.

Answer: Wound separation after mastopexy/augmentation When a breast lift and augmentation are done simultaneously, the skin is definitely stressed and the area most prone to some breakdown is at the base of the breast where incisions are coming together. Sometimes it can take a couple of months before the wound stabilizes and the surrounding inflammation and swelling improves enough to allow true healing to occur. Almost in every case, these wounds heal over on their own. Your surgeon may have specific recommendations for dressings or wound care to help speed the process. Once healed over, these areas are observed just as the other areas of incisions are observed for scar maturation. Amazingly, often times these areas actually scar really well and once faded, don't look much different from the rest of the scar line.

Answer: I have an open wound where anchor T is from lift/implants. I'm 7.5 weeks post op. Will it heal on its own? I appreciate your question. Since there has been a change in your post op course, please contact your surgeon so he/she can examine you and recommend most appropriate treatment plan at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz

Answer: Breast Augmentation Post Op Open Wound This is not unusual but should be brought to the attention of your surgeon. Always best to err on the side of caution. My guess is that your bra is probably rubbing against this spot and irritating it. Make sure to cover the area with a gauze bandage before putting on your bra. That should help.
