Age 23, is it possible to change the shape of an Asian nose?

Question

I’m 23 and I feel like I’ve finally reached the right age to go through cosmetic surgery, however I have a very specific nose that I want and I’m not sure if it’s even possible to achieve it. I don’t necessarily want a higher bridge but I want this shape (pics 3-5) instead of a straight nose, which is a very common result of asian rhinoplasty. I feel like a straight nose elongates people’s faces, so I want the tip to be more flat, squarish and up-turned.

In person exam is essential. Based on your limited photos - it appears that you would benefit from Reduction/Augmentation Rhinoplasty with Cartilage grafting preferably performed through a closed technique. In the right hands, you can expect a more elegant nose, keeping in mind that you have thick skin and it will require more time for all final refinements to occur

Hi @asianbl027. I recommend seeing an expert rhinoplasty specialist for an in person examination. There are several options for you that can be determined after examination. A rhinoplasty in my opinion is one of the most difficult procedures to perform. In my practice, I utilize piezosurgery. Piezosurgery is a more gentle technique that allows for greater precision. Less bruising and swelling is common with Piezosurgery. In a typical rhinoplasty, a hammer and chisel technique is performed leading to more inadvertent fractures. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

The best way to determine what specific changes will look good on your face, and what changes are surgically possible, is to do your research to find the top rhinoplasty specialists and consult with several of them in person. During your consultation, your photos can be computer-morphed to show how the changes to your nose will affect your appearance. Since your nasal tip seems upturned, it will be better to lengthen the tip naturally. If you don't want it for subjective reasons, you need to consult with the surgeon in more detail about that part.Of course, the final decision is yours.
The shape you desire for nasal bridge augmentation is to create the eyebrow dorsal aesthetic line. This shape is impossible with conventional implants or autogenous tissues. What makes this possible is a custom-made 3D printing implant. Since the 3D prining implant can actually embody the shape desired by the patient, it is possible to set the desired shape through a simulation program and send this data to a company to manufacture an implant of the desired shape and height, which is possible in Korea.

Based on your photos, you appear to have a broad, flat nasal appearance, a "polybeak", and thick, oily nasal skin. Unfortunately you my not be able to achieve the definition and shape you desire for a few reasons, most notably your skin thickness. If you decide to undergo rhinoplasty, raising your upper bridge a few millimeters with an implant may help to achieve better bridge definition. First of all it's very important to have realistic expectations about what  can and cannot be accomplished with your nose. You also have very thick skin in the tip of your nose which is going to prevent refinement in that area. From the front view you can undergo rhinoplasty with osteotomies to narrow your current nasal bones. You also have to understand that they are very short in Asian nose. Many Asians also build up the bridge which gives the illusion of height and more narrow of a nose. Digital computer imaging of your nose would be helpful in  the education process
