If the philosophy of the surgeon is modern and artistic, and he/she are using advanced techniques, the results should make you look refreshed, and less tired/sad appearing.  Your eye shape and your appearance (i.e., looking like someone unlike yourself) should not change.Looking at the surgeon's before and after photos is extremely helpful and investigating his/her techniques and qualifications can not be overstated.The attached link provides more information.I hope this helps.

After upper and lower blepharoplasty you should look like yourself except without sad tired eyes. Anything beyond that is poor surgical judgement.

Upper -lower blepharoplasty should NOT change the patients look totally like R Zellweger! You should look like a younger rested version of u.

Please read my blog about Renee Zellweger.  However, an unexpected blepharoplasty result is all too common.  Surgeons think a number of things.  The number one thing that they usually do not think is that the way they do your blepharoplasty is causing a problem.  The number one culprit is over excision of skin from the upper eyelid fold.  The surgeon's job is not to see how much skin can be removed to the point you have trouble closing the eyes.  The task is structure not tissue removal.  The same is true for the lower eyelids.  Renee Zellweger had her beautiful upper eyelid folds removed.  Of course in those after photos, she has had ridiculous botox and filler services.  To understand what is possible with eyelid surgery, do not my website photo gallery under eyelid surgery can look at eyelid surgery patient 1 and patient 3.  Both of these individuals had what I call a microblepharoplasty.  Very little eyelid skin is removed.  Surgery is all about structure.  Study your surgeon's website and decide for yourself if this is the type of surgery you are getting or if you are more likely to get Renee Zellweger's surgery.

Upper and lower blepharoplasty should have as it's goal to leave the person looking like a rejuvenated/refreshed version of themselves and not alter their appearance markedly.  During your consultation with your surgeon, you should make this clear that this is your goal.  Look at numerous before and after photos of your surgeons patients to see if the results are what you are expecting.  It you feel your goals may not be met, see other board certified plastic surgeons for other opinions. 

In some cases upper and lower eyelid surgery can drastically change a look, and another instances it just freshens up the overall eyelids. The results are very subjective, so it is best to see what can be accomplished with the procedure by looking at many different before and after results.
