Thank you for your question. This all depends on the size of the patient. Have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to get a proper evaluation. Best of luck!Dhaval M. Patel Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Hoffman Estates Barrington Oakbrook Chicago
Great question. As it turns out liposuction is used during tummy tuck surgery to contour the waistline and the flank area. Few if any pounds are removed. The poundage that is removed during the surgery if from the flap of skin that is removed. The weight depends on the flaps length and thickness. The key to achieving your goals for tummy shaping and contouring is working with a board certified Plastic Surgeon who will help you define your goals and collaborate on a short, medium and long term plan for your successful result. Good luck!
This will depend upon how much fat you have in the tummy tuck specimen that is removed and the number of areas liposuctioned as well as the amount of fat in each area. This may range from 1 to 2 lbs to much more.Kenneth Hughes, MD
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. The amount removed depends on your pre-operative anatomy. If you are an appropriate candidate for a tummy tuck, this can be done through a low and short incision, allcompletely below the bikini line. Thebelly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on theexterior. Your muscles can also beplicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures ofreal patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluatetheir results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you arecomfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualifiedboard-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Liposuction and/or a tummy tuck are not weight loss treatments per say. They are more contouring procedures that are designed to decrease the excess in areas and tighten the overlying skin. The weight loss that comes with that is extremely variable. For some it could be as little as a pound. For others, it could be five pounds. Everyone is different in what the tissues will weigh once removed, but don't think of either as a primary way to lose weight. I hope this helps.
Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately there is no standard amount of weight loss with either a tummy tuck or liposuction procedure because both are patient dependent. Remember that overall you will not see a significant drop in weight as the skin and fat removed is not heavy and both procedures are performed to enhance contours rather than lose weight. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this question. This depends on your BMI and the extent of your tummy tuck. I've removed as little as one pound to as much as 18 pounds on some of my patients. On the other hand, tummy tuck is not a weight loss surgery - but more of a reshaping surgery. Ask your plastic surgeon to give you an idea of what can be achieved. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends patients have a BMI less than 30 (if possible) to reduce the risks of surgery.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
While the amount and weight of tissue removed from each person varies, the goal of body contouring procedures such as liposuction and tummy tucks is to shape and sculpt your abdominal area, not to lose weight. These are not weight loss procedures, but they can certainly make you appear thinner since you’ll be eliminating excess skin and fat around your midsection.
The goals of tummy tuck and lipo are usually not removing a lot of weight, but rather to shape and sculpt your belly and flanks; it's about how you look when it's done. In the early stages after surgery you can have a lot of swelling (making you look bigger sometimes). I have removed a range from 0.5 lbs to 35 lbs (35lbs was a panniculectomy where the pannus was touching the knees). If your goal is to loose weight, tummy tuck will not make you loose a lot of weight. But it will contour your abdomen and flank areas, giving you a better shape.
It is difficult to say how much weight you would lose because everyone is so different. I will say that you might even put on weight initially because of swelling. Look for the result not the weight loss as the success.
Thank you for your question. It is somewhat difficult to discern from your photo what "funny" mark you are talking about. As you are not quite yet even a week post-op, you are extremely early in the healing process, and the appearance of your incision and scar will continue to...
Minor revisions can be performed in the office setting under local anesthesia. There will be a period of recovery, but it will be minor in comparison to recovery from a full tummy tuck. Your surgeon will advise you of any restrictions from the planned procedure.
The healing process from any injury/surgery is up to a year. The scars look OK for a couple of weeks and then become worse for about a month or two and begin to get better thereafter. My suggestion for all my patients is to use ScaRxTape.com over the scars/injury for that intermediate phase to...
