Ideal candidates for liposuction are at or near their ideal weight and have good skin elasticity. Liposuction is not a weigh loss procedure and will not remove the stretch marks. You will see a change in inches rather than in pounds. Most plastic surgeons look for a BMI close to 30 to ensure maximum results and to decrease the risks of complications during and after surgery. Discuss a weight loss and exercise program with your PCP or a trainer who can help you determine the best path for you to reach a healthy BMI.

Usually after pregnancy, weight gain, and childbirth, there will be muscle laxity and excess skin. Hard to tell with no exam, but lipo would do more to slim your hips and waist and perhaps take a bit of your tummy. A good exam is needed to make the right diagnosis, and that of course determines your best treatment !

There is no doubt that liposuction would improve your abdominal contour but it will not do anything for your striae. Abdominoplasty (TT) on the other hand would eliminate some of the striae in the loser abdomen. It is very hard to claim that there is currently available treatment for striae that is predictable. Thank you for your question. Liposuction would reduce the amount of excess tissue in the central abdomen and flanks, giving you a slimmer appearance. However , this will no change the appearance of the stretch marks. Also, often after pregnancy, the recti muscles in the central part of the abdomen can become redundant and require tightening. Excision of the stretch marks and tightening of the muscles can only be done with a tummy tuck. Liposuction can be used at the same time as the tummy tuck to improve your silhouette. Ideally, one would need to examine you before formulating the appropriate treatment plan that would best address your goals.

Hello, thanks for your photo and question. You can have Liposuction without Tummy Tuck with good results, although Full Tummy Tuck is the best procedure to eliminate saggy skin and stretch marks. You can have both at the same time. Consult a plastic surgeon in your area. Good Luck!

One plastic surgeons make an assessment on someone’s abdomen for aesthetic purposes there are generally four variables we look at.

These are skin laxity, subcutaneous fat, muscle separation from previous pregnancies and excess visceral or intra-abdominal fat.

Previous pregnancies can change skin laxity and muscle separation but does not create a change in fat distribution and by itself does not create more subcutaneous fat.

In this way Liposuction does not treat pregnancy related changes.

A full tummy tuck on the other hand specifically treats pregnancy related changes because it particularly treats a skin laxity and muscle separation.

Liposuction will give you some improvements but the definitive procedure Is going to be a tummy tuck after you’re quite certain you know you’re done having children.
