Will liposuction on banana rolls make my buttocks drop or help make it perkier? (Photo)

Hi there, great questions!I would never recommend liposuction near gluteal fold area due to its risk of dropping the buttocks and changing buttock anatomy. It does appear though that you are a candidate for lateral thigh liposuction (which will help you fit into clothing a little better and also allude the appearance of a 'perkier' buttocks area)

Liposuction of the area with fat grafting to the crease area and just above can give a nice result. Occasionally Bodytite can be added to improve the skin laxity.

Typically we do not liposuct the banana roll because the buttocks will drop. If you want the buttocks elevated I recommend a posterior lift or thigh lift. You may also benefit from liposuction of other areas but not the banana roll.

You can have liposuction of your banana roll area and this will not change the shape of your buttocks. Also, the saddle bag areas can be treated and will not change the shape of your buttock. With the excess removed in those two areas, your buttocks will be more prominent.

Liposuction is actually a skill. In order to have the appearance of a perkier butt without fat grafting, one would take away from the surround areas. For you, liposuction of the flanks, lower central back, saddle bags, and posterior thighs while actually doing nothing to the butt would allow for a more augmented look.

I often tell my patients that there are two ways to enhance the buttock, 1.)Add volume to it (usually through fat injection) or 2.) Reduce around it. Most patients elect to do both,(reduce around it AND add the fat to the buttock). This is commonly known as BBL or Brazilian buttock lift. If you do not desire to add fat to the buttock by injection, the buttock can be enhanced by liposuction around it. This would include the lateral thigh and the lower back and flanks. The banana roll is a problem seen after liposuction performed too aggressively in the upper thigh below the buttock where a secondary roll of skin is created. Aggressive liposuction should be avoided in this area.

The banana roll is a skinfold the forms on the upper back of the theater in a standing position. The skin is tight in this area when the hips are flexed leaning forward or bending. It’s just like the lower abdomen forms of skin fold in a sitting position.

If you lean forward you’ll see that the banana roll flattens out.

This is not caused by excess fat and should not be treated with Liposuction.

If there was a correct treatment it would be skin excision but I do not recommend that.

Most people have a skinfold in this area to some degree in a standing position. It’s normal and it should be left alone.

Liposuction will not correct the problem and will most likely create some type of disfigurement.
