Will I end up with loose skin after liposuction? (Photo)

Question

I'm planning on a BBL and Liposuction. I video called the doctor and he told me I will end up with loose skin after lipo. I just want some other opinions.. I also just recently gained 20 pounds due to a desk job which I will lose. Do you think losing the 20 pounds before lipo and my bbl will help minimize the loose skin after surgery?

The areas are sculpted as the patient desires. The results depend very little on the method used and very much on the board certified plastic surgeon selected. The patient must have adequate skin elasticity to allow for skin retraction after surgery. This factor is the most important element to good results aside from technical proficiency of the surgeon and the patient’s ability to follow the post operative regimen of wearing the compression garment appropriately. Generally your BMI should be less than 30 for the best results,

I think you would get a very acceptable result with the lipo and bodytite together if done under local rather than general. Thank you for your question and photos. A BBL is both a technical and artistic procedure. Based on these photos, you do have enough fat for a BBL, but the area you are asking about is covered by clothing. Although you do have stretch marks on your mid and upper abdomen, I've seen excellent skin tightening using the VASER Hi Def Lipo technique.This needs to be done 360 degrees (all areas must be connected with lipo to allow for maximal "shrink wrap" effect of the skin around your bony and muscle anatomy).

See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Now you see the limitations of a video conference/virtual consultation. An in person examination is imperative to come up with the final surgical plan. Good luck.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. BAsed on your photos, it looks like you would get good results after liposuction. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Depending on the amount of fat removed you could end up with loose skin after liposuction.  It does appear that you already have some loose skin which could become worse.  Gradual weight loss is recommended.  Rapid weight loss can actually make stretch marks and loose skin worse.  You may want to consider a tummy tuck with liposuction for contouring as an alternative.

It is likely that you have some loose skin after liposuction since your stretch marks indicate that your skin has lost some elasticity. That being said, the amount of loose skin can be very minimal. I would add a skin tightening treatment such as J plasma during your liposuction to help tighten your skin even more so you can avoid a tummy tuck incision. Hope this helps!

My experience has been the skin laxity isn’t particularly bad after skin laxity. If the degree of your skin laxity doesn’t bother you now but it probably won’t bother you after liposuction.

Weight loss has a similar or potentially worse impact on skin than Liposuction.

Liposuction creates a certain amount of scar tissue that contracts the skin and while it doesn’t pull it tight like a tummy tuck it keeps it from hanging down.

Sometimes you can see a little bit of a hang around the belly button creating a sad looking belly button when significant amounts of fat is removed.

Skin laxity for those who have it before surgery can be an issue because it prevents to deliver the contour changes initiated by Liposuction to some degree in some areas.

There can be other skin changes if Liposuction isn’t done correctly but these are not really related to skin laxity but more contour irregularities.

If your skin does not have a hang on the lower abdomen it shouldn’t after liposuction.
