The amount of skin that can be removed with an umbilical float is less so this can happen. Frequently there can be a little pinch of fat left to cause the bulge. It is possible to correct with liposuction. You would need an exam to confirm.
I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are having with swelling. I encourage you to return to your surgeon for an examination. The cause of the swelling and discomfort needs to be evaluated. If the muscle repair has failed it will require a revision for correction.
