Would a Tummy Tuck be appropriate for me and would Liposuction be enough for my pecs? (photos)

Question

I've had a colostomy and colostomy reversal done, the first surgery was done when I was obese but the reversal was done after I lost extra weight. Would it be possible to remove the stoma hole scar? Is it possible to use the vertical scar or minimise it, either options are ok. Secondly is liposuction of the male breasts enough or does some skin need to be cut out?

Hi. Well done on losing the weight. Fleur De Lis Abdominoplasty is likely the best option for removing the maximal skin excess in your case. It is unlikely that liposuction alone would address the excess skin in the breasts. You will likely need a gynaecomastia procedure to remove the excess skin and reposition the nipple to a higher position. Please consult a Plastic Surgeon specialising in body contouring after massive weight loss to consider the options.

You have achieved a wonderful goal!!! Congratulations for your weight loss. You have developed a significant excess of skin on your abdomen in both vectors: width and length, so just removing one vector and perform a solo Fleur de Lis (vertical) or the 360 incision (horizontal) won’t be enough to achieve a great result: nice, tight and rejuvenated abdomen. So you are candidate for the combination of procedures: Lower body lift-Fleur de Lis or at least an Extended Tummy Tuck- Fleur de Lis with muscle repair, most likely mons lift, buttocks lift (if 360 option), and just a bit of liposuction to lovehandles. Regarding your chest you have the combination of features: excess of skin, excess of breast tissue, and very large areolas, very low inframammary fold. So you will need a chest reconstruction with the goal of masculinization: skin removal, gland removal, reduction of areolas, reposition of areolas more lateral and closer to the new inframammary fold and lift the inframammary fold to a more masculine position. The combination of these procedures represents a long surgery, so on my opinion separated stages from the Body Lift. Be encouraged!! At the end you will be looking awesome. HiYour chest would need scars to tighten the skin but it could be done with a minimal scar approach. You would get a vast improvement to your abdomen with a tummy tuck and it would remove the stomal scar. RegardsDamien

A tummy tuck would be effective and would take care of the colostomy defect as well. In terms of your breasts, liposuction will most likely be unsuccessful as you will have excess hanging skin. This will need to be resected.

You would do well with the vertical tummy tuck which can revise your vertical scar and probably remove the scar from the stoma. An examination is needed to see if much fat remains in your breasts, or is it all just excess skin.  I would suggest meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon and discussing your options.

Regarding your abdomen I personally don’t like adding the vertical scar sometimes called fleur-de-lis pattern.

If there is a lot of horizontal skin laxity the results can suffer if it is not incorporated.

Personally I think it’s better to extend the excision to the backside and work some of that skin laxity out towards the sides and avoid the vertical scar.

I think your ostomy scar can be completely eliminated through either a traditional scar tummy tuck or one with a vertical component.

I don’t think your chest will respond well at all to liposuction.  fat is no longer your problem and skin laxity is.

Male chest lifts I kind of tricky and some providers do them better than others.

I don’t think you’ll get anything out of doing liposuction.

It would be helpful to know how many pounds you’ve lost but in the end you are a skin laxity patient due to weight loss and needs skin surgery.

I want to take me tuck should do an awesome job for you and get that ostomy scar gone forever.

As always I suggest scheduling multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have extensive experience.
