Drain hole removal leakage non closing - could I have gotten my second jp drain out too early?

If it doesn't look infected, then you very well may be correct about the drainage coming from your abdomen. You should have your plastic surgeon check this out. It sounds crazy, but it may be good that it leaks, and does not stay in your abdomen. Ongoing drainage doesn't especially mean the drain came out to early.

Thanks for your inquiry, hard to answer if you got your drain out to early without seeing a drain log and examining you, but now that you have drainage it is important to discuss management with your plastic surgery including woundcare, compression, activity modifications, etc.

Hello and thank you for the question. I would suggest that you see your surgeon for an evaluation. it is not uncommon to have ongoing drainage from the drain site for a a day or two after removal. Have your surgeon take a look to make sure you are not having fluid accumulation inside. Best,

Hello. Great question. I suggest following up with your surgeon. An in person examination can determine if there is a start of fluid collection. With out any pictures, it is difficult to adequately evaluate you. If concerns persist, please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for a detailed examination.

It's best to contact your plastic surgeon for an evaluation.  Typically the drain sites will close within a day or two.  Since yours is still producing a fair amount of fluid your surgeon should examine the area for any potential issues.

Oozing from a drain site is not unusual, it will eventually stop.  I would agree, if there is any residual fluid in the wound, it is better to drain out, then be retained.  If the site becomes red, malodorous drainage, feverish or painfull, these are signs of an infection and you would need to start on antibiotics.Good Luck!
