Hi I had a tummy tuck and a lipo about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I am really concern because I was healing very well but this past weekend my tummy stated to looks red and my body temperature sometimes drops to 96.5 or raises up to 102.5 I went to my doctors office an everything looks good besides the redness. The nurse don’t understands the ups an downs of my body temp. What should I do?

Answer: Fever and redness after tummy tuck Thank you for your question. I’m sorry to hear about your postop complications. From your description, it sounds like you may need a course of antibiotics for a possible infection. A temperature above 101.5, will typically indicated something concerning is happening. Redness and swelling above the incision with an elevated temperature generally implies and infection. Best to see your surgeon ASAP.

Answer: What should I do about redness and fever after a tummy tuck? Your description is consistent with an infection that will likely need some form of treatment ( such as oral antibiotics, intravenous antibiotics and/or surgical intervention). Nothing will replace in person evaluation by your plastic surgeon, not his/her nurse, when it comes to accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Best wishes.
