I just had male gyno surgery. My doctor told me to wear the compression wrap for 3 days then I could remove it. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question.After your #gynecomastia #surgery, you will be required to wear a #compression #garment after surgery
for the next few weeks. The extra pressure this garment provides helps
reduce swelling and discomfort. You should not remove this garment at all until
the second or third day after surgery. After that, feel free to remove the
garment temporarily for showering or laundering. We want you to have
circumferential pressure for 4-6 weeks, but you may switch to an exercise compression
garment when advised.Ask your #BoardCertified #PlasticSurgeon what they recommend.

Best advice is to follow your doctor's suggested protocol. I usually suggest the garment worn for two weeks and removal for showering.

If your procedure was relatively minor with no liposuction, your Plastic Surgeon may feel that you have minimal risk of fluid accumulation and will have minor swelling. Plastic Surgeons have different preferences for compression wear  and sometimes decide this on a case by case basis. If you note changes such as increased swelling or fluid accumulation, let your Plastic Surgeon know right away.All the best
