inhave 3 weeks left before my tummy tuck with liposuction procedure, but I need to loose 12 more pounds before the procedure. Would getting lipo shots and B12 Injections in my stomach ok to help me loose some more weight faster before the surgery?
Answer: Shots before surgery Shots before surgery--especially in the area of the proposed surgery (i.e., tummy)--probably not a great idea. Not only is the efficacy questionable at best, but in the unusual case of infection from the shots, your surgery may be cancelled! Best to speak with your BCPS first. Good luck!

Answer: Lipo shots before surgery? While it is good to have a goal weight prior to surgery, getting to that goal is something that you really need to do with lifestyle modification (diet and increased exercise) and really, it needs to be something that you can maintain after surgery to get the most out of your results. Unfortunately short cuts and even crash dieting to achieve a number are not likely to get you the long-term results you seek. The B12 injection may be helpful and you might ask your PCP for an appetite suppressant, but otherwise lipo shots are not the right answer. Best of luck with your surgery!

Answer: Lipo shots before surgery I don't believe that the injections you are considering are a contraindication for surgery, but you should check with your board certified plastic surgeon as to what her protocols are. Thank you for your question!Melinda Lacerna, MD FACS

Answer: Lipo shots 3 weeks before surgery recommended? After reviewing your photos in another question you posted, I believe these "shots" are a waste of time and $$s. Plus they could cause an inflammatory response in the injection sites if placed in the abdominal areas. Thus making the TT surgery more difficult dissection. Plus as stated previously, you have the issue of large amounts of visceral (intra abdominal fat) that should be addressed which will effect the results of TT surgery. I recommend delaying your surgery till you lose at least 20 pounds....
