I am considering Voluma for facial volume loss in the cheek area right under orbital rim. I needed to know the cons of using Voluma, such as displacement of the filler, discoloration of overlying skin, or stretching and sagging/wrinkling of overlying skin, as a result of this injectible? Also, can injecting it in the cheeks lift the nasolabial folds and folds at corner of mouth?
Answer: Cons of Voluma Hi Shayda. When done by an experienced injector there really are no "cons" to Voluma treatment. The results look natural and can last up to 2 years. The main risks of the procedure are related to the injection process: bleeding, bruising, swelling, etc. However, when done by an experienced injector these risks are minimal. Voluma can help improve the appearance of the nasolabial folds, however, depending on the degree of volume loss you may require additional filler to those areas also. Please find an experienced physician injector for this treatment. Hope this helps.

Answer: Voluma Results Are Spectacular Voluma is one of my favorite products for filling sagging cheeks. It looks very natural and can last for up to 18 months, as it helps to stimulate new collagen production. The poor outcomes that you describe are not due to the product itself, but to injector error. For example, discoloration is the result of placing the product too superficially. If you work with a board-certified dermatologist who has many years of experience sculpting the face beautifully and naturally with Voluma, the only side effects you should expect are short-term and related to the trauma of injections, such as slight bruising, swelling and/or discomfort. These should resolve within days. You also want to start conservatively – no more than one syringe per cheek – and then add more later, if desired. Stretching of the skin is not an issue with Voluma. Fillers stimulate some natural collagen growth and actually strengthen skin over time. Using Voluma alone creates a lift that smooths out the nasolabial folds and mouth folds, in an immediately visible way. If there are superficial lines too, we often also need to use other fillers, such as Juvederm, Restylane or Belotero, to even out those creases. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist to find out how Voluma and fillers can help you compensate for volume loss under your orbital rims, plus smooth out nasolabial and other folds.

Answer: VOLUMA TO SAGGING CHEEKS Our practice is one of the busiest Voluma injectors in the region. We have had incredible results from the product and recommend it highly. Voluma is natural, predictable, and durable (lasts approximately 2 years). The "con" is potentially the higher cost. Most patients require more than one syringe and Voluma is priced higher than most of the other fillers. Consider Sculptra or fat transfer as potential alternatives in your decision making. Best of luck!

Answer: Voluma for Midface Enhancement: Volumetric Filler for the lower eyelids and Cheeks Voluma is a long lasting hyaluronic acid based gel filler which is indicated for midface enhancement. The midface does include the cheeks and the lower eyelids, and Voluma is injected along the orbital rim (bone) to enhance and fill this area. The effect is long lasting for up to 2 years. The risk of discoloration and skin effects are negligible because it is injected in the deep tissue. The "Voluma Lift" is very difficult to deliver as fillers do not lift and will have little if any effect on the nasolabial fold. A Midface Lift will rejuvenate the cheek and lower eyelid, and can have an effect on the lower cheek region.

Answer: Voluma to fill sagging cheeks: The cons Voluma is an FDA approved hyaluronic acid (HA) based filler designed to augment the volume of the cheek area. Like with any other HA fillers, there are some risk like post injection swelling, bruising, migration and unevenness. The risks associated with voluma are not only related with the filler itself, but also with the injection technique and the patient selection. A patient in the 30s or 40s may have an outstanding result with voluma while a patient in the 60s ( that very likely needs a facelift) may not. Therefore, the benefits and risk of voluma for mid face and peri-orbital augmentation (around the eye) should be based on a physical examination. Voluma is not FDA approved for use in the nasolabial folds or corners of the mouth. However, it doesn't preclude the doctor from injecting in in other areas "off -lable".Patients interested in voluma for facial volume rejuvenation should consider making a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specialized in Voluma injections
