I am considering to have some filler injected around my chin area. I always thought I would go for Radiesse, but now I read a lot on Voluma? (I assume one means Juvederm Voluma when they say this). Is it really better? Would it last longer in this particular area?
Answer: VOLUMA VS RADIESSE Both Voluma and Radiesse are used extensively in my practice. They are excellent for volumization of the face, including the midface, cheek, and chin. I favor Voluma somewhat because it lasts longer and is fully reversible in the rare event that there is a problem. The downside of Voluma is the cost -- it is more expensive than Radiesee. For microgenia (small chin), I recommend a chin implant vs fillers because it works better in that area and is permanent. Best of luck!

Answer: Chin Augmentation with Volumetric Fillers: Options Enhancing and shaping the chin with fillers is a minimally invasive office based procedure that can be effective for mild to moderate chin augmentation needs. The options for volumetric fillers in this area are a hyaluronic acid based filler versus a calcium based filler, which could be termed a biostimulator. Both are effective options, though Radiesse may last longer in this region. Voluma is FDA approved for midface enhancement and may last up to 2 years in this region. It could be a viable option which is not as long lasting as Radiesse. Cost may be equivalent. Another option is Sculptra in this region which is a true biostimulator and after 2 vials, a long lasting correction could be achieved. A simple silicone chin implant is a very predictable and reliable option that will last, and from a cost perspective may be equivalent after multiple rounds of fillers.

Answer: Which would you recommend; Voluma VS Radiesse? Both are very good products. Both is used most often for cheek augmentation but can be used at the discretion of an experienced physician injector for chin augmentation. I prefer Voluma as it lasts longer than Radiesse and is reversible in the rare event that the injections created any sort of issue. No filler is ideal for chin augmentation and implants are far superior in projecting and shaping the chin in comparison with injectables. However, fillers are a nice way to "try on" the look of a chin implant but rarely a long term solution.

Answer: Rheologic characteristics of Juvederm Voluma vs. Radiesse Voluma and Radiesse are both excellent choices and either will give you great results in the right hands. Radiesse has the advantage over Voluma in terms of being a more "firm" filler, meaning it will withstand greater deformation forces. Voluma is a little "softer", and is reversible - meaning if there is an issue or you don't like the way it looks, it can be dissolved.

Answer: Radiesse Versus Voluma, which should I use for Cheek Enhancement? Both give significant lift, but only Voulma is FDA approved for the cheek/mid face area. However, for years physicians like me have been using Radiesse in this same area with amazing results. I think what matters is who is doing the injections and the strategic points of injection. Both will last 1.5-2 years, but only the Voulma can be reversed with an enzyme if you dont like it. Raidesse also promotes your own bodys natural collagen production but the HA fillers like voulma (in my opinion) do not. Seek an expert to treat you, do not compromise your care of cost or distance. Best, Dr. Emer.
