Voluma in my cheeks 4 days ago. I hate it. Help! How long will it last?

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that your results have not been what you anticipated.  Voluma will not last a full two years, but will diminish slowly over that time.  I would strongly recommend allowing a full 2-3 weeks to pass before deciding on the next steps as Voluma takes time to soften and appear/feel more natural.  If still objectionable at that time, then pursue dissolving of the product which takes higher doses and more treatment sessions that other fillers.  Best wishes.

You may find that once swelling goes down and the filler settles, the results are much better than you originally thought. If you are still unhappy with your appearance at that point, I would likely recommend dissolving the filler with hyaluronidase. Voluma can last up to two years, but my patients usually see improvement for 12-18 months.

I would, however, recommend waiting a full 2 weeks after your injection for the swelling to subside completely before you decide to do anything about fixing it. Voluma can last up to 2 years but some patients report it lasting a little longer than a year. The longevity depends on the patient. We wish you the best!

If you are unhappy with the result at that point, you can have some or all the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is effective on Voluma when administered by an experienced injector. The two-year duration is an estimate - many patients require a touch-up sooner than that. Make sure you are working with a board-certified dermatologist and injectable expert to ensure the best possible results.

Thank you for your question.In my experience, it depends on how the patient metabolizes the product. Some people dissolve it faster than others. With a volume of 2 ml in each cheek, I would say at least a year for it to be noticeably gone. You can start massaging with a moderate pressure to help speed up the process.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your filler treatment.  The manufacturer of Voluma (Juvederm) states that the product can last up to two years.  The product will breakdown gradually during this time. If you are unhappy with the results you can elect to have the product dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Thanks for your question.  Hopefully by now the initial swelling has calmed down and you look more like yourself. 4 syringes of Voluma is quite a bit to be injected all at once, and you probably had a signigficant amount of swelling for a few weeks.  Hyaluronidase works to dissolve it very well, but you will want to see an expert if you are going that route.  You might just want to be patient and see if it settles in and gives you a natural look you love.  I have some patients that do feel like Voluma lasts up to two years, and others that like to have it injected every year just to stay on top of it without it completely being metabolized.  Best of luck!

I would advise that you wait at least 2 weeks before assessing your result. If you still don’t like it after 2-4 weeks, you can get the product dissolved, some patients have found that their natural hyaluronic acid is also affected, however it is infrequent.
The literature states that Voluma lasts 12-24 months, however the body gradually metabolises the filler so you will not have the same results for 12-24 months, the volume with gradually decrease.  Most patients return for a top-up at 12-18 months as they do not want the product to completely metabolise.
