I had two full syringes of voluma (1 each side) injected into my temples 4 months ago and already I am back to square one which is extremely disappointing given the price point. Is there a different option that actually works?
Answer: Temporal implants The temporal region can sometimes require several syringes of filler on each side. Some people do experience a faster rate of resorption that others when Hyaluronic acid fillers are used. A second option would be to use your own fat to add volume to this area. However, my recommendation would be to consider silicone temporal implants. They can be customized and placed below the fascia and will not need constant replacement like fillers. The incision is small and in the hairline and the look is natural.

Answer: Injectable Fillers for Temple / Temple Augmentation / Volume Loss in Temples -- Soft Tissue Fillers like Radiesse, See an Expert As we age, the face naturally loses volume, specifically in areas like the temples and brow area. Soft tissue fillers like Radiesse are great for lifting the brow, filling out the temples, and making the face appear more youthful. Sculptra is an alternative. I suggest getting a formal consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Filler To Restore Hollow Temples Hello and thank you for your question and pics. The number one reason people think filler does not last long for them is that they didn't get enough in the first place. Based on your pictures, you would still benefit from another syringe of Voluma per side, which means you needed at least 2 syringes per side for optimal correction. My patients usually get about 1.5-2 syringes per side on average. I often combine this with a collagen stimulator called Sculptra which provides a gradual, longer lasting result. Sculptra works very well for the temples and results can last 3-5 years. Make sure you see an experienced physician for an in-person consultation and evaluation. Best wishes.

Answer: Restoring Volume in the Temporal Region Bjhsc, Great question! For longer lasting results, I like to use autogenous fat. While some volume loss is expected after fat transfer, you will typically get a 50% improvement. With a baseline improvement, additional fat can be used later, or "tweaking" can be performed with other fillers such as Voluma or Radiesse. As always, it is prudent to have an in-person evaluation by an expert with knowledge of the anatomy in the region to obtain safe and consistent results. Cheer! Dr. John R. Nesiba
