I had two full syringes of voluma (1 each side) injected into my temples 4 months ago and already I am back to square one which is extremely disappointing given the price point. Is there a different option that actually works?

Answer: Filler To Restore Hollow Temples Hello and thank you for your question and pics. The number one reason people think filler does not last long for them is that they didn't get enough in the first place. Based on your pictures, you would still benefit from another syringe of Voluma per side, which means you needed at least 2 syringes per side for optimal correction. My patients usually get about 1.5-2 syringes per side on average. I often combine this with a collagen stimulator called Sculptra which provides a gradual, longer lasting result. Sculptra works very well for the temples and results can last 3-5 years. Make sure you see an experienced physician for an in-person consultation and evaluation. Best wishes.

Answer: Restoring Volume in the Temporal Region Bjhsc, Great question! For longer lasting results, I like to use autogenous fat. While some volume loss is expected after fat transfer, you will typically get a 50% improvement. With a baseline improvement, additional fat can be used later, or "tweaking" can be performed with other fillers such as Voluma or Radiesse. As always, it is prudent to have an in-person evaluation by an expert with knowledge of the anatomy in the region to obtain safe and consistent results. Cheer! Dr. John R. Nesiba
