Still have swelling after having Abdominal Liposuction year and a half ago!

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Collection of fluid (seroma) in localized area(s), is known consequence of liposuction. If fluids are not removed by constant aspiration and other methods, they can create cavity that is impossible to close spontaneously. In cases like that, surgical intervention by means of removal of cavity lining (capsule), may be indicated. Only on the basis of psychical exam, good US or better MRI, one could decide about true nature of your "swelling" and what is needed to treat it. Good luck.

You need an examination to see if any residual fat is present, or if the problem is internal fat which cannot be treated with liposuction. Hopefully, you have not had weight gain since surgery.

It is uncommon to have excessive swelling so long after surgery. Typically the majority of swelling is resolved 6-12 weeks after surgery. If you are experiencing significant swelling beyond that time an evaluation by your surgeon is needed to help determine the cause.

Without a few pictures there is little I can offer as to the cause of the problem

After three months Liposuction results are permanent and there is no longer swelling. The results that remain are at this point final. It’s normal for tissues to compress down under compression such as a compression garment. This simply pushes interstitial fluid into lymphatic channels temporarily. The fact that tissues shrink with pressure does not indicate ongoing unusual swelling.
The results are simply what they are for the procedure and they are a director flexion of you as a candidate and your surgeons skill and experience.
It may be that you were not a particularly good candidate for Liposuction or that your expectations were set to high.
A bulging abdomen after liposuction it’s usually due to other variables the change abdominal contour such as muscle separation from previous pregnancies card diastasis recti or access this role or intra-abdominal fat.
Being able to differentiate the difference between skin laxity, subcutaneous fat, muscle separation and visceral fat is key and understanding why someone looks the way they do.
People often blame the lack of liposuction results for other variables that are not related to subcutaneous fat which is the only tissue layer affected by Liposuction.
This is particularly common in patients who are not particularly good candidates for Liposuction in the first place.
Ideal Liposuction candidates are generally young tight pudgy women with no previous pregnancies or history of weight fluctuations.
Without pictures we can’t make an assessment.
Follow up with your surgeon or have a proper second opinion in person consultations for the other providers. If you do you should bring proper before and after pictures and a copy of both operative reports.
