This question is best answered by your surgeon as protocols may vary. Typically patients can sleep in whatever position is comfortable for them after liposuction. Compression is generally worn during recovery, including during the night, for the first few weeks after surgery.
Dear Anonntee,Postoperative protocolI understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
You may sleep on your arms once it is comfortable, probably between one and two weeks. Always check with your surgeon first.
I’ve never had a patient ask about sleeping position for arm liposuction in my career. I’ve done 8000 liposuction procedures so I have done arms quite a few times. patients typically just sleep in whatever position is comfortable while healing. once you’re healed you should be comfortable sleeping in any position.I don’t think you’re sleeping position matters but putting direct pressure on the area for the first few days after treatment will be uncomfortable.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
