We commonly combine surgical procedures to maximize how much we can accomplish in one anesthesia. But this has to be done safely. I prefer to keep anesthesia times less than 6 hours. Some surgeons don't mind going up to 8 but then you'd likely have to stay in the hospital. In my opinion, doing all of those procedures at once would be too much. Depending on your anatomy you could do a circular tummy tuck (circumferential tummy tuck, lower body lift, torsoplasty) and an arm lift with a small BBL could be done at the same time. This would likely take around 5hrs. I prefer to focus on hip dips and lateral gluteal contours with BBL's when combining them with surgeries that require you to recover on your butt. The "circular tummy tuck" does lift the butt directly. So I'm not sure if that's what you mean by the back lift. Sometimes we do upper back lifts to address the bra-line area. I would get a couple consultation by board certified plastic surgeons that specialize in body contouring.
Thanks for your question. Typically, I perform no more that two procedures at the same time for optimal results. I recommend scheduling a consult for a proper evaluation. Please always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take care, Dr. Moises Salama, board certified plastic surgeon.
When considering multiple cosmetic procedures, the process involves careful planning to ensure safety and optimal results. It's common to combine surgeries, but there are typically limits on the duration of each operation to ensure patient safety. The general guideline is that elective surgeries should not exceed six hours, though this can vary depending on your surgeon's approach and experience and your individual risk profile. For the procedures you’re considering—tummy tuck, 360 liposuction, chin and arm liposuction, fat grafting to your breasts, cheeks/tear troughs, and buttocks—it’s likely that some can be done together in one session, while others might require staging. For instance, a tummy tuck, liposuction, and fat grafting to certain body parts might be feasible in one session. I prefer for patients not to lie on their abdomen after a tummy tuck and to avoid pressure on the butt after a BBL (fat is sensitive to pressure and ischemia), so these could be staged, for example.Ultimately, the most effective plan will depend on your specific goals, health status, and recovery time. It’s crucial to consult with an experienced plastic surgeon who can assess your case, determine the safest way to combine the procedures, and create a personalized plan based on your priorities and desired results.Krishna Vyas, MD, PhD, MHSHarvard, Hopkins, & Mayo Clinic Trained Aesthetic Plastic SurgeonNew York, New York
In almost all cases, the answer would be no– you could not have these done at the same sitting. The surgical time involved in multiple procedures can certainly add to a dangerous level, especially with regard to blood clots in the legs and lungs. When patients want multiple procedures, they need to speak with their plastic surgeon and see what combinations of procedures they might suggest.
Thank you for your question. No, you cannot undergo a back lift, arm lift, BBL, and circular tummy tuck all in one surgery. This may lead to a more extended time under anesthesia, increasing the risks associated with anesthesia and time to wake up from anesthesia. The healing process also will be longer, requiring additional time for recovery. Furthermore, you may experience increased discomfort during the recovery period. Also, its not possible to easily recover on the front after a BBL and simultaneously on the back after a tummy tuck because it would affect the amount of fat that survives if pressure is placed directly on the buttock. Before deciding, consult your surgeon thoroughly and discuss your goals to determine if combining these treatments suits you. Also, be fully informed about all potential consequences and the expected recovery timeframe, and ensure that your surgeon has a proven track record of handling complex cases and is experienced in performing multiple surgeries during a single session.
Thank you for your inquiry! I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon to create a surgical plan targeted towards your specific goals. Each plastic surgeon varies in the amount of time allowed in the OR for one surgery. It's important to prioritize safety for an elective surgery as it would be best to split those into two separate surgeries.
Dear Exuberant121838,I understand your concern. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. It is possible to have multiple surgeries in one session, such as a back lift, arm lift, circular tummy tuck, and BBL. However, combining these procedures may prolong the surgery and impact the recovery and anesthetic time. It can also result in a longer and potentially more challenging recovery compared to having each treatment independently. However, your surgeon will provide specific post-operative care instructions tailored to manage different aspects of recovery simultaneously. It is important to schedule follow-up appointments with your surgeon to monitor the healing process, address any issues, and ensure the best possible long-term outcome.
Hi Exuberant 121838,Don't do it! 1)Doing a circular tummy tuck, back lift, arm lift and BBL will require hospitalization- I do not advise attempting outpatient surgery in an office or surgery center. 2)If there are multiple surgeons, it might shorten the operative time and anesthesia time, but there will still be considerable blood loss--you may require transfusions so ask about donating in advance. 3)Making too many cuts across the blood supply in all directions sets you up for tissue necrosis/loss, and creating tension tightening in multiple opposing directions sets you up for scar separation. 4)There are conflicting recoveries that should be clarified before you sign up-a BBL requires you to stay off your back side which might be difficult if your front is tightened with a tuck. If you also do your arms, some one else will have to help you with mobility in and out of bed, dressing changes on your back where you can't reach etc. Be VERY careful with anything that sounds like a sales pitch, and make sure your surgeon will be there for your aftercare & the complications.
Hi from Istanbul.Thank you for your question. Combining surgeries can be a time and money saver process and it also can have some difficulties. The recovery period may be hard for you after getting a combination of belt lipectomy, back lifting, liposuction, bbl and arm lifting. You need to be active after surgery to reduce the risk of embolism and it may be uncomfortable for you get out of bed frequently with a lot of stitches and incisions on your body. I would recommend you to divide those surgeries into 2 stages. Recovery will be much more easier when it is done in 2 steps.
