Good evening drs. I am almost 6 months post op upper blepharoplasty. I worry that the strech marks will remain especially that they are visible to everyone. I still use silicone gel everyday for 6 months now . What do you think ? Should i continue with silicone gel ? shall i consider laser to remove the scars at this stage or is it too early and i should wait for one year to get the final result ? Please find attached the photos of before and all the healing process. Thank you very much !
Answer: I agree-these incisions were made crazy high. There is no way you needed such an aggressive upper blepharoplasty. Stop using the silicone gel. Studies have shown that it is not at all effective. Laser treatment is not going to correct this. Please do not torture yourself with other procedures as a way to remaster the trauma of having the original surgery. Let the eyelids continue to heal another 6 months At that point, it might be work seeking expert consultation to determine if your result can be refined without making you worse.Honestly for someone who really did not need eyelid surgery, this is a terrible thing to live through. Please pay attention to your emotional heal in this process. Sometimes psychological support is absolutely critical to help you feel good about yourself after something like this. Remember, if you know this was going to be the result, you would have never agreed to this surgery. You are the victim here. Focus on recovery and let the eyes heal for now.

Answer: Eyelid Incision Scars Thank you for the question. Your incision scars are still healing. It can take a full year to see the final results. The skin beneath the scar towards your lashes is slightly red. Without in person consultation it is difficult to make any judgement about the cause or treatment of the discoloration. Continue to follow up with your surgeon and wear sunglasses in order to prevent hyperpigmentation. Good luck.

Answer: Blepharoplasty scars The blepharoplasty scars always healed very well. In your case it appears the biggest problem is a mismatch in the color between the lower part of the eyelid skin and the superior part of the eyelid skin. It can be minimized by very gentle glycolic acid peels and minimizing sun exposure. Silicone gel will not help any further. The massaging and also irritate the area too much and you better off not doing any more massage. If the problem persists there is some point and undergo laser resurfacing of the area including the scar. Another option would be to do a dermal pen procedure that can reduce the color mismatch and the scarring. Even if you do not take any action it will continue to get better with time.Regards.Dr. J

Answer: Stretch marks after Blepharoplasty You are seeing the incision line from your blepharoplasty. If I must critique your surgeon, this incision was made way too high. Normally, the incision is hidden in the natural crease of the eyelid to give you the best result. Vitamin E oil massage over the incision may help it to soften, but usually time will allow your body to improve the problem. Make sure to wear sunscreen and sunglasses when outdoors to prevent hyperpigmentation of the incision line. Good luck!
