I have a hump on my back/neck... I guess it's called a "buffalo hump" and I'm extremely self conscious about it. Standing up straight helps to minimize the look of it but you can still tell it is there...Is there any procedure that can correct or help with this hump?
Answer: Agressive liposuction with the PAL unit is by far the best treatment for Buffalo Humps. Liposuction with the power assisted canulas is a great aggressive liposuction that really works on buffalo humps the best. It is done under local tum. anesthesia and there is only 1 day downtime.

Answer: Buffalo Hump Thank you for your question and photo. While an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon would be necessary, it looks like that area, which is often called a Buffalo Hump, could be treated with liposuction. This areas tends to be fairly fibrous, so some type of ultrasonic liposuction may be beneficial. Best of luck.

Answer: Liposuction Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from liposuction of this area. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Is there any procedure to fix a hump on your neck/back (buffalo hump)? Thank you for your question and photo. This is a very common finding. It is very easy to take care of it with liposuction. I find that this fat tends to be very fibrous in nature and I use the VASER technique to get the most fat removal with minimal bruising. This small area can be done under local tumescent anesthesia only. I specialize in advanced body sculpting techniques and I routinely treat this area in all my patients with full liposuction of the back. See a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.

Answer: Liposuction for upper back Yes liposuction is an excellent way to handle this condition. The web link provided has examples of various body locations. I do have pictures treating such a condition in my office but not on the web. Michael Kulick MD Board Certified Plastic Surgeon - San Francisco, Ca.
