Is there any procedure to fix a hump on your neck/back (buffalo hump)? (Photo)

Question

I have a hump on my back/neck... I guess it's called a "buffalo hump" and I'm extremely self conscious about it. Standing up straight helps to minimize the look of it but you can still tell it is there...Is there any procedure that can correct or help with this hump?

Thank you for your question and photo. While an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon would be necessary, it looks like that area, which is often called a Buffalo Hump, could be treated with liposuction. This areas tends to be fairly fibrous, so some type of ultrasonic liposuction may be beneficial. Best of luck.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  Based on
your photographs, you may benefit from liposuction of this area.  This decision should
be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you
and your surgeon.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Thank you for your question and photo. This is a very common finding. It is very easy to take care of it with liposuction. I find that this fat tends to be very fibrous in nature and I use the VASER technique to get the most fat removal with minimal bruising. This small area can be done under local tumescent anesthesia only. Hi, thanks for your question. You should consider seeing your primary care doctor or endocrinologist as a "buffalo hump" can indicate a hormonal imbalance. Assuming this is not the case, liposuction does work well to address this issue.

Thanks for the question while some people get fat deposited in that area as a result of diseases others have fat genetically placed there. This fat is difficult to remove with traditional devices so I like to use ultrasound energy to melt the fat before I use a small cannula to remove it, this can be done safely, predictable, with minimal downtime and scarring
