It is essential to understand that ocular rosacea is usually associated with dry eye. This complicates your post operative care and may impact the design of your eyelid surgery. For this reason, I recommend a detailed personal consultation with an ethical surgeon who is more focused on what is right for you personally. Generally it is possible to have surgery with the proper preparation and after care.
As long as the ocular rosacea is controlled, it should be acceptable to undergo a upper blepharoplasty procedure. Also would be a good idea to check with your ophthalmologist for their medical clearance.
Absolutely fine to have surgery but I would recommend an oculoplastic surgeon who has more training and understanding of your condition. The healing maybe slightly slower but you can safely get to ideal results. Best of luck!
A conservative and well-planned upper blepharoplasty can be safe in patients with controlled ocular rosacea. The healing process may aggravate the dryness around and in the eye due to the inflammation, however if you are medically controlled, the risk is much lower. It is best to have an in-office examination to make sure that any procedure done is appropriate for your eyes and will not exacerbate your condition. Hope this helps!Johnson C. There is no problem having a blepharoplasty with well controlled rosacea. However people with the type of skin that tend to get rosacea do tend to have some redness in their incisions for longer than the average person. That does resolve however.
