I have dark marks on my tear troughs and also the outer corners of my eyes. I think it's because my skin in this area is super thin and there is no tissue under it except bone. How would you fix this issue? I have had this all my life and would like a permanent fix. It is more noticeable in real life than in the photo.
Answer: #darkeyelids The answer depends on the cause. If the skin is thin and the underlying muscle becomes visible the only solution I know of is cover make up. If the problem is increased pigmentation of the skin the options are pico laser removal of the pigment or topical creams or peels that lighten the skin. Only the laser would give a permanent result.

Answer: Effective Solutions for Hyperpigmentation Around the Eyes Hyperpigmentation in the outer corners of the eyes, particularly in the tear trough area, can be challenging due to the thinness of the skin and the underlying bone structure. To address this issue, consider a multi-faceted approach that includes topical treatments containing ingredients like vitamin C, kojic acid, or retinoids, which can help lighten dark marks over time. Additionally, professional options such as chemical peels, laser therapy, or microneedling can promote skin rejuvenation and reduce pigmentation. Consulting with a dermatologist or cosmetic professional can help tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs and skin type.

Answer: Thin skin and coloration The discoloration may either be due to thin skin (increased visibility of blood vessels) or more pigmentation in the area. Topical creams as well as fillers can help improve the thickness of the skin. Pigmented melanocytes in the cell can actually be reduced with a topical skin bleaching agent. It is best to have an in-office examination to determine what is the best treatment for your skin while maximizing your apperance. Johnson C. Lee, MD Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon IG: @drjohnsonlee

Answer: Hyperpigmentation on outer corner of eyes? Since I see no one else has answered, I will try to give you some advice. If there is brown pigmentation within your skin, you may try light TCA peels which can be successful in reducing pigment and lightning the skin. This is usually not a permanent fix but can be easily administered once or twice a year as needed. If however this is due to the thinness of your tissues I'm not aware of any effective treatment since thin skin becomes somewhat translucent and is just reflecting the lack of underlying fat and the presence of thin dermis. Placing fat under the skin in this area is ill advised in my opinion just as I would also avoid injection of filler beneath very thin lower lid skin.Jon A Perlman M.D., FACSDiplomate, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS)Beverly Hills, California
