Previous to surgery, I was a 34/36 A cup. I wanted to go to a full C cup and my surgeon highly recommended 350 cc silicone high profile implants (hp due to my thorax he said). It's a month after surgery and my boobs are in HUGE, I have not gotten sized but I am probably around a DD or a DDD cup now. It is NOT what I wanted, my surgeon said they take 3 months for the swelling to go down. What do you think? I am absolutely devastated, I hate them so much, I can't even get out of my house anymore.
Answer: Feeling that Implants are Too Big Post-Op: Will They Go Down? HEALING AFTER BREAST SURGERY, AUGMENTATION, LIFTS1. pain is variable2. it takes 2-3 months for implants to settle and muscles to relax3. celebrex, motrin, and muscle relaxers can help4. massage and stretching may help5. everyone heals differently6. 4-7 days off from work is commonHEALING OF SENSORY NERVES: Tingling, burning or shooting pains, which will disappear with time and should not alarm you, indicate regeneration of the sensory nerves. If these sensations cause pain, repeated, local self-massage helps.ASYMMETRY: The two breasts commonly heal quite differently. One breast may swell more, feel more uncomfortable, or have a different initial shape. After complete healing, they will be more similar and natural. You must have patience, but if this causes concern, ask questions of the doctor or the nursing staff.SHAPE AND CONTOUR: The final shape of your breasts will start to look its best approximately three (3) months after surgery. It takes time for the skin and muscle to stretch and relax around the new implant. The breast will often look higher, firmer, and “less natural” in the first three (3) months. It can take up to a year to see your final result.FOLLOW-UP EXAMS: These are generally done in 1 week, 2 to 3 weeks, 3 to 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months to 1 year, and 1-2 year intervals. In our office we include all of your follow up appointments in the initial surgical fee.The best thing to do if you are worried about the healing process is to visit your surgeon for a follow-up appointment and have the area examined and make sure that everything is progressing as it should. Good luck.

Answer: Implants are too big One month after surgery your breasts will still appear larger than they will be once all of the swelling is resolved. Best advice is to follow up with your surgeon. They should be able to provide re assurance during the healing process. Once your healing is complete, if the implants are still bigger than desired, downsizing to smaller implants can be considered.

Answer: Breast Implant Size Your surgeon is right. Your breasts will look smaller as they soften and the implants drop. This can take 3 or 4 months. Having said that, it is possible that you received a larger implant than you wanted. I find it very helpful to do 3D imaging and pre-operative implant sizing (using the implant manufacturers sizers) to help the patient pick the implant that will give her the result that she wants. I would discuss this with your surgeon in a couple of months if the size still seems excessive to you.

Answer: Implants too big Thank you for your question and I am sorry you are disappointed with your result. My strong advice is to wait a full 4-6 months before evaluating your final result of surgery. Four weeks post procedure is still too early for evaluation and certainly swelling is still a factor. Best of luck.

Answer: Unhappy with result Certainly convey your sentiments to your surgeon. That said, I would give yourself at least 3 months before assessing size, symmetry, and contour. During that time the implants will slowly settle and the swelling will gradually completely resolve. At that point if you are still unhappy with the size, a downsize could certainly be considered.

Answer: Too early to be sure Everyone has different amounts of swelling. Without having seen a before and after photo it is hard to say for sure, but a 350 mL implant will generally make an A cup enlarge to a C cup (+/- depending on your weight and height). Also, implants often look larger to patients until they settle out, meaning until they drop lower on the chest over time. I would continue to be patient for the next couple of months to allow the implants to drop and the rest of the swelling resolve. If it doesn't start too look smaller then I would visit your plastic surgeon again to evaluate for any post-operative seromas.
