I don’t use the BBL as a buttocks procedure, but rather one more tool in contouring the torso and enhancing an ideal, female, S-curve that goes from the arm pit to just above the knee. To make an assessment, we need quality pictures of the body in a upright, standing position, showing the front, side and backside cropped, showing the body from the neck to just below the knees. The buttocks only looks the way it does in relationship to the thighs and torso. You do have skin elasticities or skin laxity, and this lessons, your candidacy, at least for Liposuction. Do you have hip dips so filling in lateral volume in this area with fat grafting would be a benefit. The BBL is in fact, two procedures done at the same time. Liposuction and fat transfer. To be assessed for fat transfer procedures requires meaning being assessed for both Liposuction and fat transfer, since it is a combined procedure. The ideal candidate will be an ideal candidate for both Liposuction and fat transfer. These procedures are not easy to do well, and the number of plastic surgeons who can deliver consistent quality. Predictable results is relatively few. I suggest patients before more selective than they ever thought necessary, and have enough in person consultations until you feel very confident you found a sufficiently talented and experienced provider delivering the type of results you’re looking for. Ask providers to show you before, and after pictures of previous patients who have very similar body characteristics to your own. Ask each provider specifically when after pictures were taken in relationship to the date of the procedure. After pictures should never be taken before 3 to 6 months from the date of surgery. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before, and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like the BBL. I do not recommend patients have virtual consultation, and I do not recommend traveling long distances for elective surgical procedures. I recommend patient start by having at least five in person, consultations and consider the need to schedule more. Doing these procedures, well is far more difficult than most people think. The number of plastic surgeons who have mastered the BBL procedure is relatively few.Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
